I always thought that this movie, like almost everything else Monty Python, is layer upon layer of comedic brilliance in each and every scene. This is also their best film (though not my favorite). Since you seemed to enjoy the religious satire (which is what most people object to in the film), I'm wondering - what do you find to be crude about it?
My guess would probably some of the nudity. Going from Monty Python and the Holy Grail to Life of Brian can be a shock, I suppose.

Both were tremendous movies. Kinda make me want to play Castlevania.
Drastically different in style from one another, but both are so well put together, and scored perfectly.
I very vaguely remember the original, so I'll have to see it again. The second one though was truly special. Very impressive. Still one of my favorites from when I went through my anime phase. I still have the DVD somewhere

Anyone like Blood:The Last Vampire? I've head that movie has been getting a lot of extra attention lately. Some new version someone's making, and I think there was a series too

That 40 minute anime thing was garbage. I did not understand the appeal at all.

I liked the 40 minute movie, but found it confusing - like I had missed the first 40 minutes and was lost. I think the movie looks great though.

So I just watched The Third Man, and it was easily the greatest Orson Welles film I've ever watched. Sure, it's got a problem or two, but the use of post-war Vienna for a murder mystery surrounding a criminal racket is really amazing. The music was exceptional, the dialogue was intelligent, and it had some great performances. I loved watching Holly interview the various characters and their reactions. Also, Sergeant Paine was a particular favorite character of mine.

Yeah, the nudity was a bit pointless, and the change in style was a bit of a shock. As whole, I just didn't enjoy a lot of the jokes that weren't religious satire. Particularly, Bigus Dickus. I just didn't find myself laughing like I did when watching Grail.

On an unrelated note, just saw Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince. It wasn't as good as Order of The Phoenix in my opinion, but it was splendid nonetheless. Helena Bonham Carter does another wonder performance as Bellatrix Lestrange and Evanna Lynch is doing another flawless job as Luna Lovegood.

I just wish that there were more Inferi...

I was dissapointed to see the new Harry Potter movie is only PG. I was under the impression they just kept getting darker and more violent. I haven't seen any of them but was ready to see the final movie, in all its NC-17 glory.

4chan certainly has enough NC-17 interpretations of it.

Personally, I could never get into all this Harry Potter crap. I seriously don't understand how grown men can get so into it. It's not that it's childish. It's that it's mind-numbing overall, and the only appeal it has to women is that they all get crushes on pale weak little boys like Harry. It's not like women have ever had any interest in all this oldtime fantasy stuff.

Seriously, as a male, what exactly do you enjoy from Harry Potter?

I liked the series, and there's no way the movies measure up to the books. The world within the story is what most interests me, like how magic works and how wizards hide in plain sight of ordinary people. The much fuller stories in the books are also very interesting, the stories usually build up well and in general the climaxes are very satisfying (ironically the one I liked least was the final one in Deathly Hallows). Personally, I think that Harry Potter is a good read, but a mediocre movie series.
