TheSpeedGamers Final Fantasy Marathon for Charity

Post by Overload »

TheSpeedGamers are a group of people who do gaming marathons. These marathons are broadcasted live online. Many of their marathons benefit various charities, and they've raised thirty thousand dollars in total so far. Tomorrow at 6pm cst they will be starting their 7-day Final Fantasy marathon for ACT Today, an autism group that provides families with the funding needed to treat their autistic children. 100% of the proceeds go to the charity, and they keep nothing for themselves. List of games being played:

Final Fantasy I
Final Fantasy II
Final Fantasy VI
Final Fantasy V
Final Fantasy III
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy VIII
Final Fantasy XII
Final Fantasy XI

Prizes will be raffled off during the marathon.

Oh, it can be done. FFIX can be beaten in about 12 hours, since it's required to get under 12 to get the Excalibur II in the final dungeon. I figure most of these will end up being low-level challenge games, since the low level challenges generally involve avoiding all battles, which speeds things up (with the exception of FFVIII, since you can card every enemy very early in the game, which gives no exp).

They're called TSG for a reason.

About XI

Final Fantasy XI will be played by an honorary participant “Nobody X” who has a form of Autism so the cause is very close to her heart. She will begin streaming the morning of Friday July 24th. There will be an extra feed showing her progress through the game.

They're playing them in the order they were released in the states, as some FF's were deemed too 'hard' or 'mature' for american audiences by the big N back in the day.
