i see what you are saying however one thing i have here that i dont have back home in australia and you dont have in the US is the feeling of personal safety. i can park my car on the street here - go for a walk at 2am in the city centre and feel completely safe....

its something i value highly...esp coming from a place like i did where you cant park ur car anywhere without kids breaking into it....or going to a club and seeing people get stabbed or fights happening...that kinda stuff is rare here.

its not a perfect place to live...but hey right now for me its home...

agreed....esp when that person has probably never even been here and all opinions are based on what people have seen on the news or what friends have said...

Great to see someone from Dubai in here. I left there in 2002 when my parents got divorced. I lived in Abu Dhabi for 4 years and on the American University of Sharjah campus for a year. Had plenty of trips to dubai and plenty of great gaming finds in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Bought my Japanese dreamcast there two months after the Japanese launch, and bought a few boxed system from Burjuman center including a virtual box, sanyo 3do, 3do blaster. I had a nice find in the city center gameshop when they had found a stash of new game & watch games they found lying around in storage somewhere including two crystal screen climers all new and mint. Made a pretty penny that summer when I got back to europe and sold them off to some collectors. That financed most of my gaming purchases over the next year. Abu dhabi had its fair share of cool shops too. Hamed center was pretty much cleared out of anything rare by me back then, and so where the two gameshops in the old souq before most of it burned down and was torn down forever. Hopefully I'll be back in a few years time.

Dubai = more money than sense (or taste - going by your posters!)
