1) They're cheaper.

AHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAAH! Yeah, sure.

2) They have better multiplayer features.

All the 13 year old's screaming obscenity's on XBox Live agree.

3) They have better controls.

I'm sorry, but pressing a button is a helluva lot more fun then waggling a Wiimote or doing whatever the hell Project Natal and that Sony magic stick will do.

4) They have better graphics.

No, actually, they don't. Photo-realistic 3D graphics will inevitably age and look like horrible messes. 2D sprites never age. Ever.

5) They're more captivating.

The most captivating video game I've ever played was a point-and-click adventure game from the 90's. True, pure blood, point-and-click adventure games don't exist anymore on modern day consoles, and therefore they fail.

<momentary thread hijack>you might want to check out the directors cut of Broken Sword on the Wii. It actually adds a lot the original game (which was pretty awesome, IMO) </hijack>

Carry on.

I dare you to casually walk away from a game of "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare." It demands your attention.

I dare you to find anything compelling about COD4 other than the online multiplayer.

I have given COD4 chance after chance after chance and it's hands down the worst game I've played in a while.

Repetitive play, re-spawning enemies, difficulty for the sake of being difficult. The story is so-so, and actually pretty good at _some_ points, but those bright spots can not hold up the rest of the complete shit gameplay.

Multiplayer should NEVER be the best point of a game like that. Bomberman (and other "party" games)? Sure. But not an FPS with an "epic" story. Screw that.

I actually really liked the story for COD4. Sure, the respawning enemies was annoying, but having to pull that pilot from the burning wreckage and book it back to the transport while being fired at from all sides was pretty intense to me. And those opening credits, or the finale where you get to gun down three guys with a pistol while in last stand...good times.

Generally I find that COD4 has a good story with bad missions mixed in. Pulling the chopper pilot was sweet, and the nuke that went off was sweet too (as was crawling from the downed chopper only to die). But I think the gameplay holds up, and distracts from, the story many times.

I really, really wanted to like this game, going through Pripyat and seeing a near perfect recreation of "Azure" was killer. Maybe I'll give it another go this weekend.
