Because I hate torrent clients on desktops. Much easier to load it on my file server where the rest of the household can use it centrally through a web browser.

Bittorrent, believe it or not without changing anything on it and using my friends fast cable connection I have seen speeds in excess of 1mb so... yeah bittorrent is what I've used to download everything from 100mb files to 7gb and higher and on a dsl connection that's limited to 155kbps so, I'd say it's a fair estimate to say just straight up bittorrent or utorrent (they're very similar)
