I got a copy of Red Dead Revolver after hearing a lot about it. Anything I heard about the game was people praising it. I beat it and I think it's awful. I started Gun and in the first ten minutes it felt like a much better game (looks better too). I have no idea what the story was in Red Dead and I don't understand why people liked it so much. It was full of ridiculous glitches and bugs that were all very frustrating. The animations looked awful too, especially jumping up onto ledges. I look forward to playing Red Dead Redemption, in hopes that is infinitely better than Revolver.
I also just spent the last few hours playing Gun off my ps2's hdd. It just froze and I'm too scared to turn it back on to find out I'm at the beginning again because it doesn't auto save.
Gun and Red Dead Revolver

I loved Red Dead Revolver! Multilayer for me was the best, just picking the characters and hearing those dumb catch phrases gets you pumped up. I remember it having a decent storyline and overall good experience, although it has been awhile since I last played it.

Yea, I liked the multiplayer as well. The graphics were really good for its time I thought, but then again, I first bought that game when I was in high school. I liked the storline of the game. I'm hoping they have some sort of online multiplayer instead of in-game this time.
One of the funnier parts of the multiplayer is that if one of your buddies choses the girl characters, sometimes when they die the character will yell "owwwwweeeeeeee!!!!!" , makes for a good laugh.

Never played Red Dead Revolver but Gun is a very awesome game. I wonder if the Call of Jaurez games are any good?
Re: Gun and Red Dead Revolver
From what I hear the stories are good, the games are pretty, and the worlds are well built, but the AI's pretty poor and in terms of actual missions, there's not much variety.Octopod wrote:Never played Red Dead Revolver but Gun is a very awesome game. Still, I really do want to play Call of Juarez.
Re: Gun and Red Dead Revolver
IMO, RDR is a great game and GUN was a bore fest.
Besides bad jumping animations what didn't you like about it?

Re: Gun and Red Dead Revolver
It didn't play very smoothly at all and I just didn't find it very fun. Ran into a guys face blasted him till he was dead, and repeated the process. Basically what was said above about missions not being varied and really stupid ai. I really liked the quick draw when it worked but in the later levels I kept getting the try again screen from doing it wrong and I couldn't figure out why. I didn't like the way the story was told and I only finished it recently and can't remember any of it. Kid's parents are killed by dad's partner? Then he grows up and ends up getting revenge. I liked how they were doing the multiple stories with different characters as well, they just didn't feel very exciting. I guess my biggest issue with it was that it felt like a chore to play and it didn't look like a very polished game to me.
From what I played last night, Gun felt like a more polished game, but some of the missions were retarded. One of the earliest ones consisted of me running from one end of the town to get food for a guy at the other end of town, and returning within the time limit. So you talked to one person, ran to another person and talked to them, then ran back and talked to them again. And that was it.

Pretty much sums it up for me. Graphics-wise, I prefer the first one - the sequel is a shader fest and the textures are rather poor quality considering it's such a recent release.Ack wrote:From what I hear the stories are good, the games are pretty, and the worlds are well built, but the AI's pretty poor and in terms of actual missions, there's not much variety.Octopod wrote:Never played Red Dead Revolver but Gun is a very awesome game. Personally, I believe the first game is fun but pretty flawed design-wise. I'd give it a 7.5. Second one was a disappointment in most regards and I'd give it a 6.
Moving on, it's been a while since I've played Red Dead Revolver, but I really enjoyed it when I did. It was definitely one of my favourite multiplayer games - the levels are awesome and it has a nice variety of characters.
Seeing as Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood was such a disappointment to me, I'm really looking forward to Red Dead Redemption. Besides Assassin's Creed 2, that's the only game I'm eagerly anticipating this year (for modern consoles, that is). Unfortunately I hear Red Dead Redemption won't be released for PC until some time after the console release.
