does game cube have area restrictions?

hi

im new here. im a long time reader but i had to jump in to this nice forum you have here!

so the question i wanted to ask is does gamecube have similar area restrictions as its Predecessors had. can you play any game no matter where you buy your console(pal,ntsc,jap)?

It has region protection like other consoles of the same generation.

USA cube plays USA games, JAP cube plays JAP games...etc.

You can mod it of course.

The Gamecube is region locked. You can't play JP games on a NSTC system. Unless you buy a Free Loader. That will let you play those japanese exclusives we missed out on.

Yep, I would get Free Loader to play games in other regions like Japan.. 8)

If you have the intention of reading the Japanese text, you'll want to pick up a Japanese Cube. According to my experience with GC freeloaders they can sometimes mess up the text.

dont know any japanese so.. but is there any games which have options for languanges on gamecube?

but yeah mostly wondering should i buy pal or us cube.. i myself live in pal area but i always have the feeling that we are left outside of the good games
