I Got Next: A documentary on the Fighting Game Scene

Post by Unleaded Logic »

Has anyone checked out "I Got Next" yet? Its a documentary on the fighting game tournament scene. Its mostly about Street Fighter IV and the big name players that have been playing it and the other SF games from quite some time like Justin Wong.

Its pretty decent, the version of it that is out currently is the short cut version, with a longer version of the flim coming out this winter. I wish it covered more of the original games rather then just SFIV, as the whole "I Got Next" slogan started with SF2. Maybe the film will cover more of that stuff in the longer cut, who knows.

Its free to download and you can get it from the official website here:

I've always wanted to get into the competitive fighting scene, but these guys put crazy amounts of time into the games they play. I don't think I could put that much time for training and going to tourneys. Meh maybe I'll just pick up an FPS, that will be easy enough (that was a joke, u kno cause FPS is all nuubz).

I think I'd go to a tourney just to get my ass kicked and than watch the other players and see how they play. I'm not really into super competitive gaming, but these do look like they are fun.

Yeah, I've competed in several local tournaments and they are very fun. You should try it sometime...8)

I'm in the tourney scene, I hit Final Round, NEC and most of the NC/VA tourneys every year. It's always a good party and I usually host the local after party as well as house some of the out-of-towners. The video was a good, and from what I understand it's really just a project for his school on editing. It good to point out it's not just a doc on SFIV but the folks that play comp fighting games (it just happends that the hype is all on 4).

Evo this week! Live streaming, finally...they learned a thing from SBO. There is no doubt in my mind te release of the short cut version of IGN is because of Evo.
