Have at it.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

What the hell kind of article is this? He saids the newer consoles have more simple controls, yeah right, the 2D Sonic games had a spin attack and a jump button! I like Xbox 360,but I do think that the controls are kind of confusing and takes awhile to get use to it,not a simple turn on and play like on older games.

3D graphics are obviously more technically sophisticated, but I often prefer 2D-sprite based graphics. I don't doubt that it takes skill to model 3d images (though I suspect there is a lot of stock-image use), but nothing compares to an original hand drawn sprite booming with personality (at least in my opinion).
I was going to say almost that. Sure, 3D graphics improved, but what about 2D games? Most aren't matched to this day.

By the way, that was barely an article. They must have had some intern do it in while he wasn't going around serving coffee to everyone.

Blake Snow writes lots of articles on games for MSNBC and other outlets. Not all of them are half bad (e.g. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29396500/ns ... nce-games/ and http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30254492/ns ... ualconsole). A quick scan through the MSNBC pieces shows that he knows some of his gaming history. Considering his audience is much broader than the retro gaming enthusiast, I can't find too much fault with his work.

more of his work/info:

http://www.freelancegamewriter.com/
http://www.smoothharold.com/

Also, note the intro to this particular essay states that the article will be followed up by a rebuttal piece, so he's basically trying to examine the issue from different perspectives. He might even be trying to rile folks up a little...

^^I did see that and realized there would be another "article" from the other side of the coin, but the temptation to post the first one here was too good to pass up. 8)

BTW, dakinggamer87, I'm totally stealing your smilie thing.

No, just Microsoft.

After all the MS in MSNBC has to stand for something, doesn't it?
