I've aquired a good five or six copies of it myself over the years. They all disappeared though.

You're absolutely right. That copy of Sonic an knuckles is the same one I played as a little kid. I have about four genesis model ones, but I keep my original one hooked up. That genesis has been working great since 1992; it's never needed any repair. In school I was the kid who liked Sega Genesis, not Super Nintendo. Now I realize that they're both great systems with an amazing library of games.Xonticus wrote:+2 for the Genesis Menacer gun and Sega Nomad!
By the way, you must've grown up with the genesis, amirite? getting genesis games in the boxes these days, especially in that good of condition (read: Sonic & Knuckles) is not the easiest task, esp for a gamer with a budget!
The way I see it, you've got to keep your systems hooked up if you're going to get in any play time. By the way, does anyone know where I can get a single switch that can select from eight or ten different sources?girlracer wrote:great room, i have my classics the same way all hooked up with switches.
now u need an n64, those can be had cheaper than an nes
I might gen an N64 next. My wife is as big a nintendo nerd as I am a sega nerd. I want to get a Dreamcast, but she really wants an N64.
A big thanks to everyone who complimented my ninja turtles.

I've searched far and wide for a "serious" system selector. Most inputs I can find is Five.samsonlonghair wrote:You're absolutely right. Then I came across this little gem. It's got Nintendo, Xbox, and Sony on one end. So I just switch the cord to the right console, and it only uses one input on the selector. Takes the place of around 5 inputs/cords.

Hehe, got those packed up somewhere as well.
I'm fairly sure my mum still has all my old toys packed up in her loft. Had a complete set of the Mighty Max figures/playsets and all the TMNT figures including the big van thing.
Nice collection Samsonlonghair. Nice and organised. Just how I like to see em.

Re: Poor Man's game room
I have one of those for my SNES. I got my Super Nintendo at a yard sale, but the owner had no idea where to find the video cable. I guess I could connect my PS1 to the same cable. That would save me one input. I don't have an xbox, so the xbox part of the cable is useless to me. I can't quite see how I can use this to take the place of five inputs. The most consoles I could connect to this cord is two.shallowgamer wrote: I've searched far and wide for a "serious" system selector. Most inputs I can find is Five.

Here's how everything's connected:
Input Switch 1 - Four inputs / one output
1) DVD player 1
2) DVD player 2
3) VCR 1
4) Input Switch 2
Output to TV's composite
Input Switch 2 - Four inputs / one output
1) Nintendo Entertainment System
2) Super Nintendo Entertainment System
3) Nintendo Gamecube
4) Sony Playstation
Output to the first switch on button 4
VCR 1 - one composite and one coax input / one composite and one coax output
1)Sega Genesis (model 1) in coax
2)VCR 2 in composite
Coax output to VCR2
Composite output to the first switch on button 3
VCR 2 - one composite and one coax input / one composite and one coax output
1) VCR 1 in Coax
2) Composite port open
Coax output to TV
Composite output to VCR 1

Re: Poor Man's game room
Last Christmas my family came to visit me, and my grandmother was surprised that I still have my ninja turtles. "Well," she said,"at least you keep them off the floor now."
I'm still looking for a good input selector. As you can see from my last post, my solution with two input switches and two VCRs is too complicated. I'd like to have something like this system selector. Too bad they stopped making that model five years ago. Can anyone help me find a better solution for keeping all these consoles hooked up? One switch box with eight or ten inputs would be ideal, but maybe there are other options I haven't considered.

Re: Poor Man's game room
So what inputs does your TV have? It looks like you've got NES, SNES, Genesis 1, Playstation, Gamecube, and two DVD players. Why do you have two DVD players? And do you need either VCR hooked up, or are you just using them for the passthrough?
