Why don't people talk about this game more?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

@remyc I do think that the time mechanic reinvents the way Majora's Mask is approached by the player in a way that seperates it significantly. It's Havest Moon-like in that sense. The mechanic is central to the entire game, lending itself to the narrative of Clock Town's populants and the other parts I previously discussed. If Majora's Mask is so similiar to Ocarina of Time then why do so many OOT fans dislike the game as a non-confirmative entry in the series?

There are very few items in the Zelda franchise which affect mobility to the same degree as the masks.

That's nice that you focus on the "game" parts, maybe you should read my article. The interplay between the characters is a part of the game.

Overall, Majora's Mask must keep the dungeons, items, characters and assets from other games such as Ocarina of Time, otherwise it wouldn't be Zelda. But seriously, relative to Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask is a huge divergence from series conventions.

I really ought to suggets some other games. In which case I'll volunteer Pilotwings 64. Unfortunately the flight sim was released side-by-side with Super Mario 64 and never really caught anyone's attention.

Significantly? I'd agree that it does affect it, but not significantly. I see it as a "Dont screw around and get to business" reminder.

I haven't met any of these folks, but I'd guess that they are all the folks that call, "Ocarina of Time" the best game ever, based solely on its story.

You must have sent me the wrong link then. The word "culture" was like every 3rd word in the article you sent me, bolded a few times for headings.

Could you expand on this some more, without mentioning culture?
The 3D Zelda's are all very much the same. "Wind Waker" made a serious change with all the sailing required, and by upgrading the combat system.
The 3day cycle was a good start, but more could have been done with it. The masks are just a gimmick added to the item system.

Hey, thanks for the heads up on Robot Alchemic Drive. It had completely slipped past me and I didn't realize it was developed by the same people who did EDF. I'm definitely picking it up now.

How about Phantasmagoria, and it's ridiculous murder/death sequences? Anybody played that lately? I've also got a copy of 7th Guest I've been meaning to start playing, but I haven't had the time.

I always wanted that as a kid. I did Youtube all the death sequences, though. Pretty entertaining stuff. But the in-game FMV characters over really bad prerendered backgroudns was a little on the "oh god what were they thinking" side.

I always loved the Tecmo:Deception series, which I seldom hear people talk about

One game that I recently was checking out on youtube was Rise to Honor. Like many licensed games, this one has been largely ignored. However, I watched an entire play through of the game and it actually looked like a fun game that captured a lot of what you'd expect from a good Jet Li or Hong Kong action flick

Speaking of licensed games, Return of the King was awesome and Two Towers wasn't bad either, but it was more rough around the edges. The games were every bit as epic as the movies and few games have succeeded so well in REALLY making you feel like you were playing the movie. Something about Peter Jackson movies, we've seen some of them translate VERY well to video game form.
