My favorties were...

Street Fighter 2 CE - can't deny this
The Konami brawler trio: TMNT, The Simpsons, and X-Men
Daytona USA - The first racer that felt real
Virtua Fighter 2 - the first big step in fighting since SF2
Street Fighter Alpha 2
X-Men vs Street Fighter

WrestleFest
WWF SuperStars
X-Men (4 player game)
Simpsons (4 player game)

Never understood why these games didn't make it to home systems

The Huge X-Men game.
Street Fighter in general, I actually liked every single version.
X-Men Children of the Atom (It's a shame it didn't get too great of a console port)
Daytona USA
House of the Dead
Carnevil (I think thats how it's spelled)
Ninja Turtles
Mortal Kombat I, and II.
Marvel vs Capcom

In the 90s

Post by Ivo »

In the 90s I actually did play some arcade games. I used to prefer the sort of stuff I couldn't play a home (at least not in the same way) - namely, light gun games and (less frequently) the racers.

My favorites were then Virtua Cop 1 and 2, Time Crysis I and II; with a small bit of Daytona and Sega Rally once in a while.
House of the Dead was much harder than the other light gun games, so I tended to avoid that one; it was really good but the coin consumption wasn't worth it.

Ivo.

My list exactly except with VF3 and Crazi Taxi.

It's odd but none of these games interest me much. Just millions of Beat Em Ups and racers. Was that ANY innovation in the 90's arcade?

I wouldn't call Street Fighter III a "Beat Em Up". :P I think there was innovation inside the genres, but if you mean innovation in terms of new genres you are probably right. Puzzle games, racers, on rail FPS shooters, shmups, beat em ups, fighters, and of course golf...
