Good co-op arcade cabinets?

Post by General Chaos »

As the title suggests, I'm interested in generating a list of good co-op (or even team based) arcade cabinets--new, old--it doesn't matter. The D&D games sprung to mind for me, but I know there are a lot of beat 'em ups like Battletoads, X-men, etc.

I would appreciate any shared knowledge on this one.

Thanks.

When i saw the title of the thread I immediately thought of the DnD games. I love those. Our arcade got rid of them :(

Yeah, thank goodness for the Saturn. I'd still rather play the arcade versions though. I remember a put put with both of them. We had some good times playing them, and for some reason they got very little attention so they were almost always open. The same couldn't be said for the latest Capcom fighters that drew most of the crowds to that specific arcade.

Other than beatemups?
I'd like to hear some too....

I guess you could have some shmups in there...

I'm sure somebody else will mention something different and we'll all be like "why didn't I think of that", but my mind is drawing a blank.

Hmm. Of course there are light gun games as well. That would be quite an extensive list in and of itself. I would love to have the LA Gunners and NY Gunblades cabinets.

Then there are the Guantlet games, but those sort of qualify as beatemups, and honestly I don't think they've aged well.

Also forgot about Rampage. That's a great classic.

Does anyone know if the Star Wars Arcade cabinet has co-op like the 32X version? I never actually played it in the arcade.

Ah yes.
Rampage isn't completely co-op though -- there's a bit of competition in there.
Gauntlet is a good example and technically, it's probably closer to being an Action RPG :)

Sports games have good co-op such as NBA Jam and Cyberball.

Nam '75 and Cabal/Blood Bros can be added.

Sort of really a cross between a beat em up and a fighting game just based on gameplay, but WWF Superstars and WWF Wrestlefest both have co-op tag team competition.
