Racketboy, it'd be nice if we had a place specifically to discuss the Hidden Gems pieces of yours. A good way to share dissenting opinions ;)
For example, I would've probably leaned more toward Toy Commander on the Action front, because it's easy to find and has both great single player and great multiplayer.
Good call on Cannon Spike. Not sure why Giga Wings and Giga Wings 2 are on the more obscure list, however. They were about as high profile as Mars Matrix.
Excellent pick for 2D Fighting, naturally. We should really have a feature here on JoJo, however, because that's one under-appreciated game.
I'm a little dismayed by your Racing choice, however. F355 Challenge is an incredible racing game, but ultimately failed because it's just too demanding of the player. I suspect Test Drive Le Mans or Vanishing Point might be more accessible picks for this category as they both possess depth, but they're not likely to lose you in the first couple races. It should be noted that Test Drive Le Mans also has incredible 4-player racing. I raced several times against friends and had a total blast. It's a real under-appreciated gem. Vanishing Point, meanwhile, just has lots of crazy play modes and ways to explore the game.
So yeah, we need a specific area to attempt to take ownership of your posts, so that we can all pretend that we're smarter and better and in control ;)

Yeah my "featured" ones aren't the end-all or anything, just the one that I thought would be fun to spotlight. I featured F355 because of the realism that set it apart. It isn't a common trait found in most racing games. Sure its a challenge to master, but I think that is part of the charm. It dares to be different. But yes, the others you mentioned are very worthy as well.
