The Mega Drive Championships are series of competitions spanning the globe, which take place on the 16-bit Sega Mega Drive video games console. The pinnacle of all these tournaments is the European Mega Drive Championship, contested between representatives from different nations on the 16-bit console. The inaugural International contest was an Anglo-Irish Tournament held in England in 2007. The 2009 European Mega Drive Championship will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, in October.



For now, there exist 4 leagues, England, Brazil, Portugal and Germany.
Any mega drive fans, who live in one of those countries, should contact them to join the league.

I'll ask around the Greek gaming forums to see if there's interest in forming a Greek league. I'm kind of surprised there isn't a USA league. But then again you are mainly a nintendo country

I am very saddened to find that there is no US league... and you are right. This country is mainly a Nintendo country, and to my belief it is simply because it is/was cheaper. I personally was/am a Sega/Atari kid... the only generation I had to skip because of lack of money was the Saturn (came back and got eventually).

I work at a game store that sells retro games, and anyone remember the "Rock the Rock Championship" back in the day where kids got to compete against others at Sonic & Knuckles on Alcatraz before the game came out? Not sure how many outside the USA heard of it, but anyways. We were thinking of resurrecting that idea into a store-wide tournament. Any thoughts or suggestions?

try contacting the guys that host the european championship, and ask them for suggestions, about games and victory rules. besides it's not strictly a european tournament with brazil in it
