Maybe it's because you plug/unplug them so much? I've burnt through AV cables that fast before though. Of course, that was due to force on my part.

Umm.....I'm sorry to say this, but you've kinda shorted the AV Jacks the back of your TV.

Your Genesis and it's cables are fine, but your TV that needs to be repaired at a TV repair shop, and you should be good to go like new.

Since it's a common issue the repair should cost in the neighborhood of around $50-$60 plus the usual $15-$20 inspection fee on the set beforehand, plus they can usually give your set a once-over and fix any other issues it may have or be getting before they happen as well as fox your faulty AV Jacks for no additional fee.

This happened to me as well a few years back before I found out about AV system selectors and other way's to connect multiple components to a single AV connection.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

Oh shit dude you serious? Damn. I mean I have like 3 other televisions, but you think I could've done this plugging them in and out? Never thought of it being the television.

Yeah my SDTV in my bedroom had the same thing happen to it a few years back, I took it to a repair shop they did the fix (as well as rejuvenate the tube and correct a few minor purity issues for free in the included price) and it's been like new ever since.

Anytime, as long as you either leave it plugged into the back of the TV all the time or start plugging it into the back of a system selector etc... you should be fine until you can get your TV repaired.

Could also try putting in several games, sometimes I have a problem where if you don't insert the game just perfectly right, it won't start up correctly. More than likely it's the TV, but wouldn't hurt to give that a shot.

That just means you need to scrub down your carts with some Q-Tips and Rubbing Alcohol, as your carts are dirty and that makes them contact unevenly which causes freezing, garbled/corrupt graphics and a number of other common issues with cartridge based systems.
