Watch this one. Who knows, it could go for a reasonable price:

Virtual On is one of those games I have a lot of respect for but can't play worth a darn and thus don't really enjoy playing. Something about it doesn't click quite right with me. I have better luck with Oratorio Tangram. Still, it's a very competent and well-designed game. Just not my cup o' tea. Awesome they've recorded Netlink footage, though.

So wait, you can still play this online? Do you have to use a dial-up connection?

Yeah it's dial-up.

How it works is that the modems call each other and use each respective Saturn as a personal server meaning there is no lag and the games are stay online forever.

You could probably get it to work with a broadband connection, some registry hacking and a dialup voice modem. Of course, the other party would need a similar setup. This was done with some Dreamcast games as a means to get around the difficulty of finding a broadband adapter.

Do you have regular phone service? (AKA NOT from the cable company)

If so then you can use a Netlink, as the Netlink itself is and old school 'talk' style modem that literally talks to the Saturn and Netlink on the other end.

All it literally does is place a phone call your buddy's Saturn and then he has to tell his Saturn to pick up the call on his end to play, no dial-up ISP required.

Yeah, in the old days you could play a modem game with someone without an ISP. All the ISP got you was a hookup to the internet proper. But the phone lines knew how to contact other phone lines, no problem.
