Re: Where to go
He's looking for emulators on portable devices though. If it turns out to be a micro pc, then I agree.

Re: Where to go
this is a good list to start with since I am interested in trying emulation out on the PC to get the hang of this thing. I hear a lot about the PSP, but isn't it expensive? For instance the Dingoo is about $90 and sounds like the GBA and DS are less than $100. Especially since I am not interested in a device that will play newer games because I don't have any money to buy newer games. Seems like the PSP is the machine I will try to eventually get my hands on, but for now I am stuck with one of the lesser devices. So you get these devices, load one of these emulation programs on it, download games and open them in the emulation program? Does not seem too complex afterall. I have a laptop, which will be a suitable portable device for now. I appreciate the list of emulators for each system also. I am interested how devices like the Dingoo and Pandora operate since it seems like they have there own emulators already built in. I see what you mean about that being a probable weakness.weasels wrote:Its still a good place to start tho. *shrug*Dylan wrote:He's looking for emulators on portable devices though. Re: Where to go
Well a PSP can usually be had for about $60 at your local pawn shop, and the GBA, DS and especially the Dingoo tend to have spotty emulation at best.

Now THAT is news that is interesting to hear!!! PSP is now in the realm of the possible. Sounds like that is everyone's favorite. How do you guys deal with the battery issue?Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:Well a PSP can usually be had for about $60 at your local pawn shop, and the GBA, DS and especially the Dingoo tend to have spotty emulation at best.

Re: Where to go
What battery issue?
Honestly the PSP's battery life is fine (4 hours with every setting on max and a UMD streaming either a live game world or a movie, or 7-8 hours on normal or low with or without a UMD) and if you want it to run for 10 on max and around 15 on normal or low Sony makes a high capacity battery as well that usually retails for $15-$20 that you can replace it with.

Re: Where to go
PSP is looking more and more sweet. Still trying to consider what is the easiest for a beginner (someone said the PSP takes a lot of tinkering, which I don't know how to do), but I may just go for it and hope for the best considering the prices you guys have listed. My first dive into the emu forum has proven very successful, thanks guys! Keep the tips coming if you have them.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:What battery issue?

Re: Where to go
if you do a couple words of advice! (although i dont think this will be an issue due to price) don't get the newest version of psp's its also dubed "v. 3001" as of now its only been hackable on a certain firmware update (that i foolishly went past).vash23n wrote:
