Though you have to admit the games were great.HellHammer wrote:SNES ports are amazing on the GBA, but I realized I'm much more interested in how particular developers decided to treat the GBA almost as a SNES 2, giving old SNES titles sequels or furthering a series in a SNES style.
Mickey Magical Quest / MMQ 2&3
Super Metroid / Metroid Fusion
F-Zero / F-Zero Maximum Velocity
Link to the Past / Minish Cap
EarthBound / Mother 3
And even Megaman 7 / Mega Man and Bass to an extent, at least for those of us outside of Japan.
Those were the only ones I could come up with, but you see what I'm getting at.

Metroid zero and Nightmare in dreamland were really good. Even though they were more like remakes than ports.
Re: Best GB/A ports of NES and SNES games
Mega Man & Bass is really good on the GBA, despite the fact that they had to crop part of the screen (it is a problem against some bosses, but manageable).

Agreed, MegaMan & Bass was a fantastic port if only slightly hampered by the GBA's sound chip and on screen resolution.

It was indeed a very good port. I just wish it was a better game.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:Agreed, MegaMan & Bass was a fantastic port if only slightly hampered by the GBA's sound chip and on screen resolution.

What didn't you like about it? It's one of my favorites. Much better than Mega Man 8, at least.

I wasn't super crazy about 8 either. Megaman really lost steam after 3. 4-6 were still decent, but 7 and 8 I found to be a real disappointment and MM&Bass didn't fix that, really.jfrost wrote:What didn't you like about it? It's one of my favorites. Much better than Mega Man 8, at least.
