It's not nearly as stupid community-wise, as far as I can tell, and the front end for your collection can be done up quite nicely. Plus, I've had to talk to their administrators about a minor bug I encountered, and they were both quick to respond and helpful, so I think just right there's something in Backloggery's favor.
Here's mine:

Also, I'm four short of every fighting game released for the consoles, including NTSC-J and PAL exclusive titles.

Nah, I really can't. If I catch wind of any other copies being sold, you'll be the first I tell.

Re: archiving: gamefaqs vs backloggery
So I made a backloggery account today. Eventually I will put my entire collection up there, but for right now I am just adding the games I am current playing.
I thought when I had looked at the site before that you could mark if you had the game CIB, Boxed, or just the cartridge/disc, but I don't see anything like that. Also, it lets you type the name for any game without verifying it, which isn't too hard. I like how on gametz you type the name and if its not quite right they suggest the title for you. I mention it because I am playing Majora's Mask for the N64 from the Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition gamecube disc. It lets me type all of that, but I could write it as Zelda Majora's Mask or just Majora's Mask or The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask, so it just seems non-standardized.
I guess if any of my games are incomplete or cart only I'll just mark it in the notes section.

I'll second that, rfgeneration.com my not look as pretty as backloggery but it is a wonderfull resource for the collector who needs to list variations etc.Crabmaster2000 wrote:I'd suggest using the collection tools on rfgeneration.com. Its the best that i've seen. They have variants and information for basically any game you can think of and if they dont have it its a super simple process to get it added. It also has a great community of collectors so if you need any info on games/systems there is always someone willing to help out. Also a great place to trade/sell games.
The only downside is that I have a bunch of games listed as US release instead of UK/EURO simply because the UK/EURO release details are not in the database.
Saying that all that is needed is for me to get off my backside and add the UK/EURO region details for these particular games

I like the look of backloggery but I know that if I kept it up to date the ratio of unfinnished and beaten games would shame me; Completed! yeah right!

Re: archiving: gamefaqs vs backloggery
having looked at these various sites, I think this rfgeneration looks the best to me. Like it looks like what I want... a simple archive of what I've collected.
Backloggery LOOKS better than gamefaqs, but I'm not interested in keeping track of my game progress. Just my collection. And gamefaqs does that, but seems to force you to split up the consoles. I think I'll go with rfgeneration.

Excellent choice. Its great for keeping track of your collection and you can add notes to yourself for each game if you do decide to keep track of what is beaten or not like backloggery.
Introduce yourself here and I'm sure you'll get a warm welcome. Its an incredibly knowledgable forum if you have any gaming related questions.

yeah it looks like a really cool site. Haven't delved into their forum yet, though.
Hey how do I make one of those little things to put in my sig that says like "check out my rfgeneration collection?"

Ha! Yeah, I think a lot of people include their ROMs as owned titles.h8b1llg8ts wrote: I would also love to see the webmaster call shenanigans on some of these people's collections.
Mine is all owned, unless I'm using the symbol for 'previously owned' or 'borrowed/rented'. Oh, and I have like 6 of the 'other' category for ROMs I like. And I only keep the borrowed/rented ones in there when I beat them.
