My first arcade stick

Post by PGchris »

I've never been too into fighters and I've only recently started playing shmups so in the past I wasn't too interested in picking up an arcade stick. But I happened upon this guy at my local store for $6

seemed like a decent deal to me, and while I don't know anything about arcade sticks it feels pretty good so far. Now, can anyone suggest some cheap/decent shmups for the PSX?
Systems Owned: SNES, N64, Dreamcast, Xbox 360, PS2, DS, Sega Genisis+32x+CD, Saturn, PSP

One of my personal favorite (and cheap) PSX shmups is Gekioh Shooting King. You can pick up a used copy for less than $10 easily.

I also recently got Shooter Space Shot for $3, but haven't had much time to dive into it.

I wonder if that would work on a PS2? If it does that would open up a whole slew of fighters and shmups for that arcade stick.

All legacy playstation accessories work on all playstation family consoles such as PS1/PS2/PS3(PS3 with an adapter) simply by plugging them into the controller port.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

I used to have that same stick. It is really not bad and you cant beat that price.

Edit: Mobile Light Force aka Gunbird is cheap and decent.

Oh sweet, for some reason I didn't think that was the case.

Well when people start wondering if a standard (aka controller port) PlayStation peripheral doesn't work I always like to point out the that fact so they don't run out and buy another system just to use one peripheral.

What sucks is I just bought the Street Fighter IV fight sticks with the assumption it would work on my PS2 games played on my 60GB PS3. Guess what, I was wrong. I was really looking forward to playing Guilty Gear Accent Core+, Tekken, and all my PS2 Shmups with it. I guess you can use old controllers with new consoles but not vice versa. :(
