Anyone dig this shit? I grew up playing starting with the Mentzer B/E/C/M/I sets and then 1st ed AD&D up through 2nd and 3rd ed(only a little 3rd really). I also used to play 1st ed Shadowrun, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Paranoia and some Battletech. I find my self wanting to get back into the old school stuff. I'm hoping to find a group that plays OD&D, CD&D or 1st ed but so far no luck really. I'm thinking about getting into collecting some of the older stuff aswell. I love the art on that stuff. Erol Otus is the shit.
So anyone else into pen and paper RPGs at all?

Re: RPGs(Pen & Paper)
I played Shadowrun, AD&D, and some Star Wars in highschool. And D&D, AD&D, BESM, and Paranoia in college. I havent really played in a few years - my last GM quit before the game started...
Im a bigger fan of the LARP style of RPG in a D&D styled session. Meaning that other than combat, your stats mean little and is based on your abilities to play your character. Even though that also means alot of work for everyone.

I loved Palladium back in high school. Got started with the TMNT book and stuck with it. I used to have a big stack of them. TMNT, TMNT in Time, TMNT in avalon, Palladium, Rifts, Ninja's & Superspies, bunch more I'm not remembering right off. Never really had a big group, just a couple friends and family members, but it was fun.

I started with D&D 2nd Edition, moved up to 3rd and 3.5, and generally stayed there. It's open, user friendly, and fun. Considering the reaction from friends for 4th edition, I think I'll be avoiding it. I've also played D20 BESM, GURPS, Call of Cthulu, and Star Wars, though I still prefer my halfling sorcerers.

lol.....yea.
A group of friends and I play a D-20 base game every sunday. For the past couple of months we've been playing a campaign based on the Stalker universe.

It's as nerdy as it gets....but we have a great time. A good DM is all you need.

Don't feel bad, that actually sounds like it would be a lot of fun to me...BigTinz wrote:A group of friends and I play a D-20 base game every sunday. For the past couple of months we've been playing a campaign based on the Stalker universe.

My mom wouldn't let me buy the D&D books as a kid (they made people go crazy!) so me and my friends would end up basically doing the storytelling part without the dice rolling.

I'm currently playing a Dark Ages+magic type GURPS campaign, and I've played D&D, Shadowrun, Mutants and masterminds, HERO System, Call of Cthulhu, Star Wars RPG, Cyberpunk, and I'm sure a few others. In other words, I'm a big fan
Comics, RPG's, miniatures, and now retrogaming? I guess its time to learn to go without eating...

Played quite a bit about 10 years ago (early in my high school career), but really only played AD&D 2nd edition and Vampire: The Masqerade. I really loved Vampire because it wasn't as well known as D&D therefore no one thought you were crazy when you brought the cool looking books to school.
