I have some money and I wish to pick a good game for my DS. Given than you guys give better input than most reviews I ask your opinion on the following games, extra games are also welcomed:
The Dark Spire: The concept is cool, and it pickes my curiosity but it¡s a very love it or hate it game so I wonder whether pick it up or not. Given than I'm going to play mostly on the subway grinding is not much of a problem but it still scares me.
Knights in the Nightmare: I don't get how this game works, could you explain it to me?
Bangai-O Spirits: Is this some kind of Shump-Puzzle Hibrid?
N+: Is it worth it over other games or just a good game but not a "must-have"?
Etrian Odyseey: I s this a good crawler?
What DS game is the most awesome for me to pick up now?

N+ is challenging and fun. Only played it emulated though.
Etrian Odyssey is spectacularly difficult. Especially the FOEs (see here)
I personally liked Final Fantasy Tactics A2, the Phoenix Wright games, and The World Ends With You. I'm looking for more SRPGS though.

The Dark Spire is exceedingly old school. I'm talking about not knowing which weapons are better other than trying them out in battle style old school. It has very few nods to modern convenience over a game like Wizardry (1).
Etrian Odyssey is a bit more user-friendly, but it is still as unforgiving as TDS. That said, Etrian Odyssey has more variety in available character classes over TDS, and the game is longer as a whole.
Knights in the Nightmare is unlike anything you've ever seen. Here's what I wrote up about it: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 11&t=13332

Nice, I hadn't heard of Knights, I'll have to check that one out. I'm looking forward to pick up TDS and/or Etrian when I finish Luminous Arc. Pretty exciting to have two hard core old school dungeon crawlers on a hand held. Since they both get compared to Wizardry, should I pick up some graph paper for mapping?
Oh and if you're wondering, I'm underwhelmed with Luminous Arc.

You might want to look into SMT Devil Survivor, The Legendary Starfy, All the Dragon Quest remakes including Rocket Slime. All of these are great games and have major old school appeal.

I'll plug Black Sigil - Blade of the Exiled. It's very reminiscent of Chrono Trigger, and although it takes a bit to get going, it's very good. All 3 Castlevania games are also very good.

when I had my DS, I had about a dozen games. But Mario Kart DS got the most play.

I haven't played Knights in the Nightmare, but I heard that it is a very original game with a huge learning curve. The tutorials take an hour to complete, I plan on making it my next DS purchase. Watch a video of Dark Spire gameplay before you buy it. I like it, but it is a very bare-bones dungeon-hacking RPG.

I was underwhelmed by Luminous Arc as well, but I haven't been able to get into a FFT-style game since I got into Disgaea.Hatta wrote:Nice, I hadn't heard of Knights, I'll have to check that one out. You fortunately won't need graph paper for EO and TDS. Etrian Odyssey uses the second screen for mapping purposes (you get to make your own) and The Dark Spire lets you call up an in-game map at any time that fills in as you explore. However, if you want to know your position and facing you need to cast a first-level wizard spell (or just keep track in your head). Etrian Odyssey uses a MP system, while TDS uses the D&D style casts/level system.
