Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

archiving: gamefaqs vs backloggery

Thinking about joining one or the other to keep e-track of my collection. Anyone have a preference. Pros? Cons?

I personally you Playfire.com. It has been improved in the last couple of months and it's becoming better and better!

I personally have tried both, and I prefer the simple layout of Backloggery

Chalk another up for backloggery - though I do not update it as much as I should. I think it still says I am playing Echoes of Time.

I don't know anything about PlayFire, but between the two given, I'd say Backloggery. It's not nearly as stupid community-wise, as far as I can tell, and the front end for your collection can be done up quite nicely. Plus, I've had to talk to their administrators about a minor bug I encountered, and they were both quick to respond and helpful, so I think just right there's something in Backloggery's favor.

Haven't tried gamefaqs but have been obsessed with backloggery. Easy set up, easy to share, and nice sig option to show off.

The only thing I don't like is that you can not change your listings either in chronological or alphabetical order. I would also love to see the webmaster call shenanigans on some of these people's collections.

But for the price ... :)

I'd suggest using the collection tools on rfgeneration.com. Its the best that i've seen. They have variants and information for basically any game you can think of and if they dont have it its a super simple process to get it added. It also has a great community of collectors so if you need any info on games/systems there is always someone willing to help out. Also a great place to trade/sell games.

From what I've seen, it's a bit more difficult to add a game to Playfire than to Backloggery (on Backloggery you just enter any game, while you have to get an approval to get a game up on Playfire). I was intending to try Playfire, but, hell, I'm even lazy to keep Backloggery updated (and the thing is supposed to help me).

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA No. Sorry buddy, but I ain't parting with that for anything. Though you did remind me, I had to add another game I picked up to my list that you're missing. Transformers: Beast Wars Transmetals.

Also, I'm four short of every fighting game released for the consoles, including NTSC-J and PAL exclusive titles.
