what is with people and starving children?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

It makes no sense for people to keep bashing his purchase. If you were trying to imply that he could have donated or helped out somebody instead of buying the game, I mean you may as well criticize every purchase ever made. Buying a car? Forget it, take the bus to work and give $10,000 to charity. Buying a house as a sensible investment instead of paying monthly rent for something you never own, nope to the starving kids. Playstation 3? Nope, buy a PS2 and give the extra $300 to some cause.

Just lock this thread. Many of us read http://www.vgpc.com, it has been on Kotaku, and it has been mentioned several times on the forum. And now its on yahoo, good to know. End of thread.

That's way too much money to spend on any game! I like collecting video games, but I couldn't justify spending that much on something.A car is different because you can drive it to work to make more money, but that cartridge probably won't even get played at all,but it will be worth more over the years. In the end its his money and he can do whatever he wants with it.

Meh all those guys are hypocrites, they say all the time "The rich should give money to the poor" but they don't give a lonely euro to the poor boy who can't afford his railroad ticket.

In fact even if they did. Hell, perhaps this guy gives a lot of money to charity, who knows?

Meh, so what if he paid that? He's a serious collector, and those games command an extremely high price. Even if we're not willing to pay, somebody else is. And why worry about how other folks spend their money?

Excellent point. And wait his name is JJ Hendricks, doesn't he come on here? I figured he ran JJ Games. But I don't understand why people are drilling this man for buying this. (C)rappers spend more than this on stupid ass gold chains and diamonds in their teeth, but no one says this shit to them. I also love how people are telling this man what he should and shouldn't buy, and what he should spend it on. *Facepalm*

I personally feel that is way too much to spend on a game, especially one that's so limited, but I don't have a collector's mentality.

I'd buy it if I had 17,000 dollars to spend. You know, if I just had 17,000 dollars just not getting used. I wouldn't give it to charity, I'd buy that. Call me mean, but I would. Why is it my problem that the homeless children are homeless. They should get there own job. If they can't, that's their fault or parents fault or higher up's fault. Not mine.

Yes, I know, I am a selfish, greedy, jerk.

although I think it is stupid, but at least it is a commodity that is worth something and a very rare commodity.

I think it is a lot worse when people travel for a couple of weeks and spend that kind of money and once they come back , the money is gone over luxuries and services, and no commodity that is worth any thing.

Ya know whats funny? Every single one of those people bashing him for buying that had to have been paying a monthly fee for their internet bill in order to bash him. And monthly fees add up to a lot of money after a while. It's the same reason I (And presumably many people) don't play World of Warcraft. Damn hypocrites.
