Which Streets of Rage was your favorite out of the series?
Mine's was 2. Graphics and the size of the sprites were way better and bigger, the specials were better, and Yuzo Koshiro laid down some better tracks (best 16-bit soundtrack EVER). Though I wish that they wouldn't have taken Adam out. I can't stand 3 though....
I liked Street of Rage 1&2 about same... I definitely agree with KholdStare that the graphics and the size of the sprites were way better and bigger, the specials were better, and Yuzo Koshiro laid down some better tracks (best 16-bit soundtrack EVER)...

That having been said I've only played a few minutes of 3 due to not owning the cart.
There's so much I want to say about 3 but I won't. It's a god awful mess of a flop. I'm actually pissed that I paid for this shit complete. I bought this in high hopes of it actually surpassing 1&2 but no...ugggh!
Between the first and second one, it's hard to say.
SOR 2 wins out for overall playability. It had a better balanced diffulty(cheap elevator stage not withstanding), more moves, more characters, better controls, etc. It had better graphics too
However, the original is better in every other way. It had more personality. The pepper weapon, being able to throw people into pits and off elevators. The cop car special. Not of those nice little touches are in Streets of Rage 2. Instead, they put in really ridiculous crap like the guy with the rocket pack, a Boxer who dances around on his tippy toes like a ballerina, some strange alien looking thing in stage 3, silly, less realistic attacks like Axel's flaming uppercut and Blaze's Dragonball Z-like fireball, which made the game feel like a realistic, urban fighting game and more like a generic anime game.
Also, preferred Blaze's original character design. She looks ridiculous in Streets of Rage 2.
SOR 1 also had a better soundtrack. I find it odd that many people feel that the second one's music was better. The original had awesome tracks like the one on the boat and it had a better boss theme than the mediocre one in Streets of Rage 2. They even re-used one of the original's tracks in SOR 2 because it was so damn good
I am not familiar with Streets of Rage 3, but the only way for anyone to properly judge that one is to play the import version. It's like a completely different game

Hmmm I will admit that SOR 1 gives you more of a realistic late 80's/early 90's feel. I prefer the specials on 2 although unreal, still awesome. and I played the japanese SOR 3 same thing. Only difference is that they added a homosexual mini boss named ash. And look at them in 3, down right horrible. Another thing about 3 that upsets me is that instead of putting Adam back in the game they just give them his outfit color. Fuckin' stupid.
All in all though, I just think the whole game is a repetetive boring game. It's like the same thing over and over. The enemies are almost exactly the same throughout the whole game.
