thats pretty damn cool moz :)

practicing for EVO in July. My Boxer is really getting smooth and execution is rarely a problem anymore. When I lose lately its because I thought wrong, never because the move I wanted did not come out.

Headbutt into Ultra is about the flashiest combo I do and its kind of pointless due to damage scaling. Its really more about practicing your bnb (bread and butter) 5-8 hit combo's and never missing an opportunity there. 8 hit combo's instead of single attacks add up quickly.

SF4 has its own problems (I hate Zangief's scrub loving lariat) but its not like any of the older 2D games are perfect. SF2 is very unbalanced compared to SF4, with many 9-1 and 8-1 character match ups. SF3 TS made parrying fun but all but ruined the zoning game.

Street Fighter IV...

Post by newt42 »

I really hope this game doesn't turn out to have like, 13 other versions. I'm sorry Capcom, but "Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix" is a little too much...

I think Capcom will probably end up making more versions of SS4 for money. Probably a couple more for the consoles, (i.e. Alpha 4) and a version for the PSP. They also could simply release downloadable add-ons instead of more retail versions. What do you guys think will happen?
Systems: SNES, PS1, GBA SP, Gamecube, DS Lite, Wii, PS3 (Fully Backwards Compatible), Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, a Sega CD, and a Sega Saturn.

I definitely see dc happening, but with the decline in popularity of 1 on 1 fighters, I find it much less likely that Capcom will spend a lot more money on it. The real reason that prior Street Fighter games got milked to death was mostly an abuse of their popularity, but with the genre becoming more niche there's simply not as much money to be made that way.

You do realize that Capcom is based in Japan, right? That Japanese game centers(arcades) still do decently, right? That Street Fighter IV pulls a lot of its profit from Japanese game centers, right?

Break out the party hats. This was the first youtube video where I've had to disable comments, due to mass stupidity. Whats worse than PC fanboy nerds? Foreign PC fanboy nerds. I had about a dozen fucking idiots comment on this video with completely off base e-penis measurements. The best comment was this one.

There's seriously about a dozen of these dickcheeses. Apparently my video got plastered all over a bunch of Brazilian blogs or something, judging from my stat tracker, so I felt compelled to broadly insult a couple populations of people in a bright red annotation as I locked things down. What a wonderful surprise to come home to today. Fuck.

Edit: Dear god...why did this video take off so fast?

Quick question Mozgus. The framerate stays consistently high throughout the video until the ending of the Gen/Chun Li fight, where it suddenly drops ten frames per second. 49 frames still isn't something to whine about, but I was wondering if you might have a reason for the sudden shift?

I noticed that too. There seems to be a specific setting that when cranked to the highest, it does struggle the tiniest bit. Maybe the depth of field or something. Still, I'm completely sure its always 60 for me on the default settings. It's just a matter of finding which effect is the culprit. I just hope they fix the AA bug or nvidia does. I really need that.

Actually as I examine it more, I think its just a combination of the stage being so much "busier" than the others, and the fact that I'm running a pair of 8800GTs here without actually setting an SLI profile, which means the game may not actually be using both cards yet. Again, consider that FRAPS is recording 720p video the whole time. All games run much worse when FRAPS is going. Most systems cant accurately capture anything higher than 640x480 without huge slowdown. With my core i7 and a dedicated sata hard drive for video, it helps a lot.

So SF4 was leaked a couple days ago. Seems to be a solid port all around. Shame it uses G4WL, but if the online play works well through it, that will be worth it.

Right now Steam and Impulse both have the game at a $35.99 preorder discount. Impulse is the superior version, because unlike Steam, you can run the game without needing a third party client. It's as if you installed the retail version, except it wont use securom and need a disc or anything. Impulse's DRM is the least punishing of anyone's so if you're buying digital, go with Impulse on this one.

I'm still on the fence. If the online play sucks, then the game is worthless to me. It's quite a gamble right now.

the better you get the more online play sucks :) Really only play 3-5 bar matches. Look at online play as a way to learn character matchups. Lag will kill most advanced combo's
