Pioneer LaserActive w/Sega pac. Deal or no deal?

Post by isaacsquared »

I can pick up a Pioneer LaserActive with about a dozen movies and the Sega and Karaoke pacs, for $65. Is this worth it? I've heard that it's the best way to play SCD games, but that it sucks at Genesis games. What's everybody else's experience with these, if any?

side note, I think it's amazing that this stuff probably cost about two grand 15 years ago but isn't worth a hundred bucks any more.

They are extremely rare if it works for 65 bucks just to have it for collectors purposes is worth it.

As a LaserDisc and SEGA fan I have to say you must go out and get it immediately, as in you have no excuse not to do so especially considering that Pioneer probably only sold a few thousand in the states making it an extreme rarity.

That is an excellent deal for a very interesting system (and media). I've got one myself, and it's great fun.

Absolutely yes. It's probably worth a fair amount, actually.

Both.

It was an enhanced Pioneer laserdisc player that had a module slot on the front. You could insert a karaoke module, a Sega module, or a TurboGrafx module. In additional to playing Sega and TG games with the correct module it also played special laserdisc games that were geared toward the two modules.
