Not gonna lie, they do tend to end this way, but I'm not faulting you for it Khold. You are pretty new to the forum after all, and you've been polite and interested in discussing games and having a good time, so don't think this reflects badly on you. We're glad you're here.

Nahh. Mozgus will form a negative opinion of you and tell you about it very bluntly. Ack instead went for a detailed dissertation as to why this guy is wrong.

I'm reluctant to even post this because this has gotten so out-of-hand, but it's honestly pretty hard not to defend yourself when someone posts a 20 paragraph-long spit in your face. If you'll actually read what I said and not insist on villifying my attempts at ending the frustration that was being caused and trying to understand how other people had come to interpret my words the way they did, you might be able to see my good intentions.

I find it absolutely fascinating just how many liberties you've taken with the words I've typed. The things I said to you were back-handed insults? My list of iconic Nintendo franchises juxtaposed with iconic Sega franchises was somehow meant to be an attack on The King? I wanted to be right, so I just drove all of my "competitors" out with my "attitude"? This all boils down to me not wanting to admit Sega's inferiority? By trying to understand how someone came to a certain interpretation of my words, I'm really just trying to rekindle the argument? These are intentions you just made up. Look, I appreciate that you've taken the time to try and analyze the situation and make me understand exactly what I've done wrong here, but your reliance on borderline psycho-analysis of my posts carries no weight because you've misinterpreted my intentions in every single instance.

The King's post can be interpreted to mean one of two things to me: A.) He actually bases his personal opinions of what he likes off of other people's opinions, which is an ineffective criteria for judging how one personally feels about an issue unless one is brutally and senselessly Collectivist in their reasoning, or B.) He completely changed the topic of the thread from a question that could be met with two answers (Which do you prefer?: "Sega/Nintendo", based on personal preference) to one which could only be met with a unanimous agreement (Which company did a better job in the marketplace?: "Nintendo", based on inarguable fact). I composed responses which pointed out these falacies/irrelevancies brought forth by The King in a rather round-about fashion, which were interpreted to be hostile. Feeling that writing massive posts on this thread was a waste of energy if they're just going to be misinterpreted anyway, I decided to continue work on a short story I'd been thinking about. I'm then accused by Mr. Popo to have flipped the argument, which I didn't feel that I had done, thus I asked how he came to the conclusion that I had done such a thing, and even gave a thorough explanation on how my previous comments may have come to be interpreted as hostile, though that was not my intention or state of mind while posting them (these statements have apparently been ignored by everyone, and I wish people would reread my explanation. I honestly still have no idea why this post, out of all of them, was interpreted as being hostile) in a comparatively shorter post to the ones I'd composed earlier, as I was rather caught up in my story. The response was a general, "Why don't you just shut the fuck up already, Original_Name?", which I didn't understand. I felt you'd been unreasonable for finding my continuation of conversation in an attempt to be civil so obnoxious, but fairly mentioned that I was being unreasonable for believing that explaining myself might actually fix the problem I'd inadvertantly caused and was only worsening the situation despite my intentions, thus I expressed this and apologized for all the trouble. You respond with a huge, villainizing conspiracy theory, which pains me to even respond to, because I just want this to reach a real resolution.

You don't have to attempt to tear down my attempts at closure and make me feel like an ass for it anymore, and even worse, refuse to believe that I could have possibly have had good intentions behind the words I used. I've already apologized; you don't have to apologize back, but I'd appreciate it if you didn't try to make me look like a jerk for it. I wasn't trying to cause frustration, I promise. Just take my word on that, please.

"Um... when did I ever say I wanted to argue which was more successful? I didn't flip the argument around in any way, I wasn't even involved when this conversation somehow devolved into which company was more successful."

Oh, now I understand what happened here. I didn't have a clear transition between:

Me: "I don't believe success should be measured by revenue in a matter of personal preference."
to
Dylan: "He was referring to the business aspect in which success is, in fact, measured by revenue."
to
Me: "Why are we talking about economic success in a thread about personal preference, anyway?"

The biggest mistake I made was not clarifying that I never wanted to argue which company was more economically successful, because that was a no-brainer; the omission of this word made me appear wholly contradictory. Furthermore, I'd let my personal definition of success bleed in with what the OP was intending when he asked which company the individual preferred. I'm so sorry for this miscommunication, and I fully understand how people could have found that particular post contradictory (though I still don't interpret it as hostile). I didn't mean to cause such confusion, and I hope you guys can maybe sort of see where I was coming from now. Deepest apologies.

Nintendo :)

I never liked Sonic, it always felt that it was just boring. I mean, it just felt like you were just going right with a rare jump, but that's it. You just make sure you're in a ball all the time and you kill all the enemies. If there is an enemy with spikes you aren't going to be able to move in time after you realize it just exerted a spike anyway. The only reason I played Sonic was for the interesting/fun bosses.
