Games that are harder in the U.S/EU than in Japan

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Ah, if they are not reprogrammed they run slower. Very noticiable. I was able to beat every song on Beatmania because of that.

However non-reprogrammed games are rare me thinks.

Apparently lots of games up until the mid-PS2 era are supposedly butchered due to this.

Contra Hard Corp is harder mainly because in the JP version you get 3 hits per life, and its standard contra one shot kills in the US.

Streets of Rage 3
Silhouette Mirage-Thanks to those arrogant pricks at Working Designs who always think they know better than a game's original creators.

Super Mario Bros. Deluxe for the GBC. The challenge mode was made significantly harder in the US/EU version. You needed more points in each level to get the blue, high score medal. (Getting that bar on the bottom of the screen full is all the more satisfying though)

85% and I quit trying to fill the bar years ago when I was like twelve.

I really should go back and try my hand at it now though....

I got the game when I was 7 or 8. I played it on and off for years and finally got the scrapbook filled when I was around 13. It was all because of the high score challenge. :x

I was going to say this :P it is harder in the states because there is no extra lives cheat I believe.
In the Europe and Japan release, it takes three hits to kill you. In the U.S release, one hit and you are dead.
