Do You Like The Way The Forum Looks?
There are things that I like:
- The style and direction of the site is fairly mature and certainly not gaudy. By having a motif geared towards more mature patrons, hopefully the content will remain at a substantially higher level. I'm afraid, the more overtly video-gamey elements become, the more likely the glitz and zazz will bring an audience that introduces static into the ratio.
- So long as the group remains fairly small, the limited number of forums works out quite well.
There are a few things I do not like:
- I'm not fond of the color scheme of the forums. I realize many people enjoy it, but gray on gray is not for me. I would recommend that you develop a few other style sheets, and allow users to customize their experience.
- The organization of the site, itself, is pretty poor. Navigating the articles, blogs, is not fun nor intuitive. I like the fact that the menu is simple, but it seems very easy for older -- but valuable -- articles to be forgotten.
The real question, I think, is where do you want to take this? The audience you have, I think, despite some niggly issues, is pretty happy with the Racketboy experience. The site seems to grow in small steps, organically -- largely because they are attracted to the content, rather than the form. This same audience, myself included, would probably prefer to see the site remain small -- any major improvements you make, might -- heaven forbid -- make the site popular. Does that go against your hopes?
