Thinking About "Upgrading" The Site

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Thinking About "Upgrading" The Site

Post by racketboy »

I'm getting tired of waiting for Google to get their butt in gear and get me moved to the new Blogger version and/or working out their bugs.

I'm in talks with a programmer to convert the existing blog to the WordPress platform for more power, flexibility, and customization.

I will probably cost me a $200-$300 for a full remake.

It may be the first step in modernizing the site a bit.

Down the line I may tie together and enhance other parts of the site as well.

What do you think?

Another question is, do you like the overall design of the site or does it need a refresh?

Sounds good!
Although I hope you keep it somewhat near the current layout which is really cool.
I think actually there are wordpress plugins for reviews for instance.

Its not a bad design at all. Remember its more about quality content than a bunch of crap on your page.

Yeah the overall design won't be changing, but I need to add better navigation like categories, tags, and such, so it's easier for new readers to find what they are looking for.

Just a higher level of polish.

Also, eventually, I hope to have a new front page that dynamically brings in the latest content from the blog, forums, and whatever else.

Site seems fine as it is. I would just suggest mabey having sections for articles on specific topics.

The site is good actually maybe the problem is on your side to update it easily with a good CMS tool for instance.

You mean, not Wordpress? Are you thinking more like Drupal or something?

The only thing that I dislike about the forums is the blue on black color scheme which makes it very difficult to read. Otherwise great job on everything else :)

Love the way your blog looks; no need to change it.
