Akuji the Heartless PS1

Post by newt42 »

I've only just now discovered it on the internets, and it looks like a pretty neat platformer. Does anyone here happen to own it, and if so, should I go buy it? Its not that hard to come by. I've found complete copies priced at around 5 bucks on amazon.
Systems: SNES, PS1, GBA SP, Gamecube, DS Lite, Wii, PS3 (Fully Backwards Compatible), Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, a Sega CD, and a Sega Saturn.

This is one on my "to buy" list for PS1. Looks like a solid game.

That quick video made it look very soul reaver'ish.

I had it back in the day. It ranges from cool to generic, but never bad, really. Yeah, if you can find it that cheap I'd say pick it up. It's sort of a voodoo love story from beyond the other dimension.

It was developed by Eidos, the same people that made Soul Reaver. Also the same team that put together the Gex and Tomb Raider series.

Ah, well that makes sense. :)

Completed it about two months ago, because as a fan of Soul Reaver and Gex, I had to check it out. The gameplay doesn't deviate from the standard platforming, but it has a great atmosphere (some Lovecraftian elements) and haunting music. It's pretty short too, and can be completed in about 8-9 hours. You can't blaze through the levels, though, because you need the souls of the ancestors to open the gate for the bosses.

By the way, Crystal Dynamics isn't responsible for the original Tomb Raider games (1-5).

I borrowed this game years ago from a friend and I loved it. Surprised to see it so loved because since it came out I have never heard people talking about it... I thought I was the only one that liked it. I can't remember much about it but I do remember having fun with it(pauz)
