Final Fantasy IX

Post by ZeroAX »

I just started playing this game. I've finished the other 2 FF games on the PS1 so thought I'd give this one a try.

I have to say I love the change in style, from 3 steampunk/sci-fi Final fantasy games in a row, it's good to get a game with a more, magical taste in it.

But I have to say the opening is soooooooooooo slow. And the characters are a bit hit and miss. Vivi is great, but the rest not so much. I like the design of Zidane, but why the fuck did you have to name him like that Square?

Do these 2 look anything alike?

maybe zidane (footballer) has a secret monkey tail in his pants

or zidane (FF) gets an ultimate trance move. The HEADBUTT

and steiner, oh god steiner. I hope the later arrivals in the party are better.

and one more thing. thank god for 4 character parties. I've had it with having 1 healer and only 2 attackers

I've always felt that FF9 got a bad rap from all those who started with 7. Four character parties are amazing, and the game has the least annoying steal system (you can steal EVERY item, instead of a random one from the monster's list) of any FF. I do agree that the characters aren't the best. Aside from Zidane and Garnet they don't really grow at all.

FFIX was my first FF game, and I still love to play it. I don't care what anybody else says about it, I think it can still hold it's own against VII.

Imo 7 was the worst of the PS1 FF games. I don't understand the hype. Then again I guess, first time's a charm? (for those people playing an rpg for the first time)

I kinda understand why FFVII was such a big hit, but I don't think it made sense. The game also hasn't aged well.

But on to FFIX, I own it and tried to play it, but after a bit I just got annoyed. The battles are too uninteresting and it's just not grabbing my attention. I mean, the world is vivid and detailed at all, but perhaps as I get older I need a more mature gaming experience or something. I dunno.

I have replayed FFIX a couple of times. I like the Dragon Quest-like simplicity, but really, they should've made the battles run faster. It's really annoying.

I still don't understand the last boss. Kuja was just fine.

Nobody understands the last boss. You have a better chance of understanding cricket.

Oh Moz, it's almost as if you're trying to incite a flame war.

Even if you didn't like them, it's impossible for either of them to be the worst because FFII was made. Personally I thought they both kicked ass, but you can't please everybody.

2, meaning 4jpn? Hell, I finished 4....twice. Its not very good but it was at least worth playing through. 6 is garbage right from the start.
