New Xbox coming or something?
I noticed in the last week local Gamestops, Target, and Walmart have all but phased out a couple of rows of Xbox 360 games... Just an observation but it just feels suspicious.
Older. Not wiser.

NO!
Nothing personal Ryan, but I'm getting o freaking pissed of having to answer this question day in and day out at work. The original Xbox lasted five years alone, so why would they cut the 360 off at under four?!
That having been said, most companies are currently going thorough summer restructuring and inventory, so they may just be getting rid of old titles fr that bargain bin and making room for the late summer/fall blockbusters. Info tends to leak very wildly from the high ups to the little guys here on the floor at GS (GCN & PS2 phase outs etc...) before official announcements, so I'll be sure to post quick if I get wind of anything.

They're making room for all the PSP Go games. Just because you can't see them doesn't mean they aren't there!

Average console age is 10+ years. It's worth noting that the original XBox joined in late into the sixth generation of consoles (and left prematurely - the PS2 is still going strong).Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:The original Xbox lasted five years alone, so why would they cut the 360 off at under four?!
360 and PS3 are going to be around for a while yet. They're not even getting warmed up yet.

No, the average console life cycle is 5-6 years with a heavy sting of new big budget releases, followed by an optional extended life cycle of up to 5 or so more years of budget titles and re-releases of existing games.elvis wrote:Average console age is 10+ years. Not every console gets an extended life cycle such as the Master System (in the US) Saturn, N64, Gamecube and Xbox.

Nah. Microsoft would never stop supporting a successful product (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_XP) only to release, another prematurely (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vista) just to make more money from it's costumers

Not seeing how that makes my statement wrong? That's still 10+ years, no matter which way you slice it.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:No, the average console life cycle is 5-6 years with a heavy sting of new big budget releases, followed by an optional extended life cycle of up to 5 or so more years of budget titles and re-releases of existing games.
