Radio Shack is closing (most of their stores)

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

The only time I go to Radioshack is when I realize that I forgot to purchase cables on monoprice and my piece of hardware has arrived.

Exactly, I'm really forced to go there. I mean, if I'm in the middle of a project and I need a switch or resistor or something little and stupid like that, Radio Shack is the only place I can go. I can order online, but it's A)Stupid to order just one $3 part online and B)A pain in the ass if it halts a project.
HoboJoe wrote:Even if you could picture it, they changed the layout of every store at least 5 times int he past 10 years...you walk in there and go....oh....they moved everything to even less convenient places...wonderful!
Yeah, and every time they do this they stop carrying more items. Yeah, like I'm really gonna go into Radio Shack to buy an HDTV or a netbook or a video game console.

Keep it that way.

What really sucks is that I need a 30 gauge wire with a very thin insulation. I can order 30 gauge wire online, but I can't visually inspect it.

I'm just glad to see other people have had problems with Radio Shack. Wait, that came out wrong...

At least you HAVE Radioshack. All the ones in BC were bought out by The Source by Circuit City. All they stock is cheap Nexxtech crap and useless gadgets..

Didn't Circuit City go bankrupt and close all their stores? I'm surprised to see their subsidiaries still operating.

Well, guess that explains that. I wish they'd put something in down here. The closest Best Buy's 50 miles away, and once the Circuit City went, that was it.

I would kill for a Radio Shack, around here those kind of shops are rare and far between.

I think the only thing I;ve bought at Radio Shack, ever, was the cord I currently use to hook my Zune into the aux port on my car stereo. I went there looking for a SATA to IDE adapter a couple months ago, but of course they didn't have it.

Luckily, Atlanta has a couple Fry's locations. Fry's is much further away than RS, but at least they stock the stuff I need.
Comics, RPG's, miniatures, and now retrogaming? I guess its time to learn to go without eating...

I decided I wanna try and return the wire, if only on principle. I was gonna log onto the Radio Shit website to view my order. Maybe there's a "problem with your order" link or I'll just grab the order number and call them up. BUT I go to log in and it tells me there's no such email address. I typed in my address perfectly. God, even their website sucks!

I guess this is coming from me as an ATT customer service rep, but when it comes to store reps and the people who you speak to over the phone, its two seperate things when it comes to service.

Store people (and yes this includes ATT store reps also) dont really care unless its that dire and they have to call in. Radioshack is no different because I had one issue where they didnt add the right data plan on this guy Blackberry, but somehow he could have kept the unlimted data that was still on there, so that is something that baffles me to this day.

But on my end, i have to deal with store reps who half the time dont really care. I had one Best Buy cell guys who didnt want to do jack squat when it came to just reversing the customers upgrade on the system. They can do it, he was just to stupid to do so, and the manager has to emathize with them, because they are just as stupid too.

So if a customer gets a phone from Radioshack or other places, chances are, what they asked for wasnt in the system correctly, and thats where my job comes into play...
