Hello
So in another thread I was talking about getting into RPG games and a lot of you said I should
be getting Mario RPG on the 64. Now I am trying to make a choice should I get
Snes all star
64 paper Mario
or Gamecube's thousand Door
I am going with All Star, but if you say otherwise I will follow your advice. Snes is the RPG king right?
Pick the right RPG
Re: Pick the right RPG
Mario RPG on the SNES has a different feel from Paper Mario and Thousand Year Door. Since it was done with Square it feels a bit more RPGish. I'd probably recommend it over the other two if you're a fan of RPGs. Paper Mario and Thousand Year Door lean a bit more on the action gaming aspects and simplify the RPG stuff.

SNES is the RPG king......if you live in Japan. There was a pretty decent amount of RPGs released in english though. Unfortunately, Japan got and kept the best ones though. Thank god for emulation and fan translations.
Re: Pick the right RPG
Mario RPG SNES is my pick too. If you actually want to get into deeper more traditional RPG's its a good place to start. Paper Mario n64 as a second pick.
Re: Pick the right RPG
imho- paper mario on the 64 is kinda boring. Haven't played thousand year door, but i bet it is a LOT better.
Re: Pick the right RPG
I agree with you, but I only devoted about 4 or 5 hours into it. The game mechanics were so plain. Simple to a fault, I'd say. Or, as they say on the internet: "meh".nickfil wrote:imho- paper mario on the 64 is kinda boring.
Have to say that it's one of the few N64 games that still look good today, though.
Super Mario RPG rocked my socks back in the day, but a recent playthrough didn't have quite the same magic.

I do agree that it's simple but I think it's perfect as an intro to an RPG. It's perfect for playing with your children as my girls (6 & 9) can attest. They enjoy recounting key events in the game to my wife such as the character Tubba Blubba.

and play almost any translated ROM on your SNES.
Mario RPG is a great game to get into RPG's with. I also agree that the SNES is a great system for RPG's.

SNES is a great system for RPG's like Playstation. I would go with Super Mario RPG instead of Paper Mario games if you want a more traditional RPG...
