Killbox taught me many things. Like how much I hate one of my friends, and how useless a rocket launcher is in the open. Granted it is the reason I got good at the game so I guess it is a love/hate relationship

Hmm, just remembered another mod I played quite a bit of in the HL days. Vampire Slayer. Really, when you think of it this mod probably inspired Left 4 Dead more than most people understand. Its extremely similar. Essentially you have the exact same powers as a Hunter when you are on the Vampire side. And Vampires were considerably more powerful than a single Hunter (well there was no respawn!)

Anyway it was a ton of fun back in the day. I remember it being pretty buggy and I think thats why I quit playing.

Apparently Killing Floor is being updated for HL2 and sold on Steam.

I remember playing the Beta of Killing Floor on UT2k4. It was a lot of fun, especially with a room full of friends on different computers. I wonder if we'll have some of the same options as last time, such as changing our appearance. Also, dual pistols are in.

Welcome to my life whenever someone mentions Zelda, Halo, Gears of War, GTA blah blah blah you get the idea! It sucks having picky tastes that no-one seems to agree with. There's nothing you(Or I) can do about it. Suck it up, and move on.

P.S. For the record, Half-Life 2 is not one of the famous games I hate.

Unhelpful post, Octopod. If you ever find yourself wanting to post "You should just play X instead" or "you should just use Y instead", don't. This is not Slashdot. We do not want endless trolls of "Just you Linux instead".

Wow, it's weird seeing a game I love so much getting ragged on like that. I think it's an awesome game, and I'm pretty picky with my shooters. But I guess everybody has their own tastes.

HL2 is probably my favourite FPS/Adventure game ever.

My first introduction to HL2 was about 4 years ago, my cousin was playignit on the pc and I was watching, saw him get up to the waterboat bit then left. I thought looks pretty good but PC gaming is something I don't do.

Fast forward to last year I got HL1 for the PS2 and HL2 for the xbox. I played HL2 for about 10 mins couldn't get into it, got about an hour in HL1 and didn't like it.

So I pretty much only know HL2.

A few months back I stuck HL2 in the 360, my cousin was down so decided to play it. There was horrific slowdown and the game would freeze at the same place on water hazard. Dragged out the original xbox and the slowdown etc was gone, got by the bit on water hazard.

It was fantastic, I had it completed in about 10 hours. I was more than impressed with it.

Bought the orange box for the 360 as I wanted more, played ep1 and ep2, then played through HL2 again.

HL2, this was easier on the 360 than the xbox, or it seemed easier, also the annoying as hell glitch on the moving platform at the reactor was gone. But it was still excellent. I also loved the challenges, stay off the sand, do ravenholm with only the gravity gun etc. The game was still awesome and I will play through it many more times.

However the boat and buggy are indeed annoying. I just wished they changed the controls, the right stick as brake/accell and the left stick to steer would have been excellent, instead the controls are poor thus annoying.

The 'help' in the latter half of the game is also annoying they get in your way and they say excuse me etc, don't talk just get out of my way!!!!

Ep1&2 maybe it was just me but the health bar, torch etc, they were different, that irritated me. Why would they have changed? You never saw Kleiner again to have the suit altered so why did the display change? Minor change but it ruined the continuity of it a bit.

Alyx the faithfull companion was a welcome addition, she was actually helpfull.

Anyway EP1, this was good, very good, then your at the train and your done, wtf! It took 3 hours first play through! I was annoyed at the fact it was so short, excellent but short. I would have been raging had I owned it for the pc then had to wait 2 years for ep2!

Ep2, this is more like it a decent length to it and some new features, new bad guys and different terrain. You get right in with the rebels the story seems to really be getting somewhere now. The game throughout is excellent and the ending, you knew it was going to be like this but wheres the next bit?

HL2, EP1 & 2 can all be done in a day easily enough if you know where your going but despite its length its not an issue its great, the problem you have is wanting the next bit to come.

The puzzles, I much prefer then to the old resident evil puzzles or even worse the ridiculously stupid silent hill puzzles.

Portal. Everyone claims portal is the best thing ever. I fail to see the attraction, I suppose I feel the way about portal as the OP does about HL2 itself. Overhyped nonsense. Someone said it was great so everyone else said it was and it came to be known as great and woe betide you don't think it is. Its an ok puzzle game, is it as good as HL2? Not even close.

IMO the orange box is a ESSENTIAL purchase for the 360 if you have one its the one game I would have happily paid full price for.

HL1 though, I have it for the ps2 but in all honesty I doubt I will ever play right through it or blue shift etc or whatever it is thats included with it.

Well, the ending to HL2 is one of the best WTF moments ive had in a long time.

At least get to the ending, and then you will see why... then play ep 1 and 2 (still need to beat 2, god its hard)...
