Do you listen to other music while you game?
Do you listen to other music while you game?
I find that I rarely ever play a video game and listen to the actual game music. I mostly turn the TV volume all the way down and listen to some dubstep reaalllly loud. Not only does it help me become more immersed in what im playing, it also sounds better than the original music to me. I will occasionally listen to some chiptune which has a similar effect but with a more retro appeal. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you did this as well and what you listen to?

I found myself doing it when I first got my Xbox 360 and saw the play your own music feature. I was doing it mostly through Saint's Row BUT doing it through Call of Duty 2+3 is where it was most fun. Listening to classic rock WHILST killing NAT-sees... dosen't get no betta.
BTW I realised I have stopped doing this so... Thanks for reminding me.

I dont care for video game music at all but I like to hear what is going on in the game so I dont have any other music playing when I play games.

None of the games I play require you to hear what is going on. I cant think of any retro games that would require you to hear what was going on around you actuallyOctopod wrote:I dont care for video game music at all but I like to hear what is going on in the game so I dont have any other music playing when I play games.

Never. I always only listen to the music in the game, but I guess for the games I usually play I see the music and sound effects as an important part of the game, if not an essential one.
Re: Do you listen to other music while you game?
It depends on the following:
Do I like the soundtrack?
What platform is the game I'm playing on?
If the game is on the PS3, does it let me play music through XMB?
If the game is on the PC, is the game very resource intensive (switching back and forth between Crysis and Winamp can be a pain in the ass)?
Do I have music that would suit this game (for some reason Vader and At the Gates just don't seem to fit Tetris
)?

Yeah, guess I was thinking along the lines of Xbox 360 since thats all Ive been playing lately. When I play my SNES or Genesis I just listen to the game music pretty much.toredauei wrote:None of the games I play require you to hear what is going on. Yeah, that is basically what I do for the most part...When I play my retro games and consoles then I usually listen to the original music...otaku wrote:sometimes only if the in game music really sucks or if I'm gaming on my pc or in a multiplayer game

only when I play an mmo, cause the grind can take hours, and the rock music makes it more fun.
