Quick (and probably stupid) question
Quick (and probably stupid) question
Do all the Genesis models use the same wires? I noticed in the Racketboy store it says the cables for the Genesis will work for models 2 and 3. I might be buying a Genesis off a friend soon and want to make sure I get the right wires.
Re: Quick (and probably stupid) question
The model 1 uses different AV cables than the others. Not sure if the model 2 & 3 use the same AV cables as each other or not though.

Re: Quick (and probably stupid) question
All I know is that the Gen 1 uses the same cords as the MS.
Re: Quick (and probably stupid) question
I believe the model 1 uses different AV AND power cables. The model 2 and 3 do use the same AV cables though.
Re: Quick (and probably stupid) question
they do use different power cables as well. model one can use a standard NES power adapter but 2 and 3 need their own.Ziggy587 wrote:I believe the model 1 uses different AV AND power cables. The model 2 and 3 do use the same AV cables though.

Re: Quick (and probably stupid) question
Sega Genesis Model 1:
Power: Black Tip Sega Adapter (Can also use SNES/NES Adapter, plus this adapter is used for the Sega CD)
RF/AV: It has its own RF/AV cables that are not compatible with other models/systems
Sega Genesis Model 2:
Power: Yellow Tip Sega Adapter (Also used for 32x, Game Gear, Nomad)
RF/AV: Seperate RF/AV cables from the model 1. As others have said (though I can't confirm), the hook ups for a model 2 can also be used with a model 3.

Thanks Molotov.
If he sells me a model one I already have an extra SNES AC adapter so that's good.

Both models. Not sure about the JVC variations or anything like that, but model 1 and model 2 Sega CD use the Black tip adapter.executioner wrote:Which Sega CD , both models?molotovwars wrote:Sega Genesis Model 1:

There may be minor differences in the electrical output of the adapters such as between the NES adapter and the Sega CD one, but the plug sizes are the same and it will work. I have never had any problems using different cords, but some people have reported blown fuses with the Sega CD (at least model 1) though if that is the result of the AC adapter I don't know.
