Difference Between Greatest Hits etc. and Normal Version
Difference Between Greatest Hits etc. and Normal Version
Are there any differences between say a greatest hits FF7 and a black label FF7 besides the case? If not, what's stopping people from buying the case from a black label one and putting their greatest hits game in there and selling it for more.

The discs on GH PS1 games actually have less screen printing. Usually the GH games have only black ink on a silver disc instead of several colors. Also, the inside of the instruction manuals are black and white.
So basically GH titles have stripped down CD pressing costs.

I don't know about PS1, but I do know some of the PS2 GH games are actually expanded editions of the regular versions. People complain about the red labels, but games like Devil May Cry 3 and Silent Hill 2 are better in the GH format. I believe DBZ Budokai 3 also had extra unlockable characters and selectable Japanese audio in the GH version. Sometimes it pays not to be picky about the packaging.

I like that Xbox 360 Platinum Hits games also come with DLC/extra content included aswell. In ten years it will probably be the only way to play the extra content.

It can be anything from updating the graphics a tad, to almost nothing at all. The guys above me explained it much better.

In the case of the Spider-Man movie game, the GHetc versions had the infamous "GIRLNEXTDOOR" cheat disabled, since it allowed you to play as Mary Jane Watson, which led to an ending where MJ kissed... MJ! So they nixed the code since some people fussed about it. Yeah, they deny GHetc owners from playing as MJ for the first time in lieu of just adding something that replaces the second MJ with Spidey or something.
