Japanese F-Zero for GBA, worth it?

Post by Erik_Twice »

I can buy both GBA F-Zero games (One unreleased in the western hemisphere as far as I know) boxed buy used for 6 euro (8 dollars) each. Do you think they are worth it? Are they fun? I'm not very much into racing games but I enjoy one every once in a while.

And, to be sure, japanese games are compatible with european consoles, aren't they?

All Nintendo handheld stuff is region free, so no worries there. I've played the one F-Zero game that was translated into english, and I wasn't a huge fan. It seemed more inspired by the anime with a lot of mission-based gameplay. If you've played F-Zero GX then you're familiar with the story mode, and the GBA games play like that.

Being an huge F-Zero fan myself, I would say buy it, as that is quite a deal you have there. One thing though is that the story modes are never good, but F-Zero really hasn't ever focused around that aspect too much, just kind of a thing for the fan that wants to know more. They are very challenging games (I'm guessing the deal is for F-Zero: Climax which is the Japanese only title, and Maximum Velocity or GP Legend, as those are all three games for the GBA.) and I'm rather sure they will keep you more than entertained for quite some time. So I say go ahead and take a chance, It's only a couple of euros, and you could always sell them somewhere else if you do not like them.

I checked and they are the games released on the west. Perhaps I will pick one if I'm bored but I'm not sure yet.

Maximum Velocity I didn't care a whole lot for as it did away with all the racers I knew and loved (Samurai Goroh FTW) but it did however have some cool throw backs to the old SNES stages, GP Legend is very very good, if you don't mess with the story and just pop it in now and then to play some quick Grand Prix races. I would highly recommend buying these games.
