Games you own that you have no intention of EVER playing

Post by Reverend »

I was given the game Top Spin for the PS2 by a friend. Not only do I not play sports games, but I don't have a PS2.

What games do you have that you will never bother to play?

A friend of mine gave me The Orange Box for the XBox 360 hoping that I would buy an XBox 360 and play online with him. I bought a new laptop instead and bought The Orange Box on Steam.

Disgaea 2... I bought this figuring once I finished Disgaea 1 and needed something new, I would want to play the sequel. However, I don't have enough time to even devote to Disgaea 1, so I'm not sure when I'll ever get around to playing part 2.

The Bouncer: It was the first PS2 game I ever bought, so I keep it around for that reason. I played it a lot when it was the only game I owned for the PS2, but really the only context under which playing this game is recommended is when it is the only game you own. Even then, I'm not sure I would recommend it. I don't think I'll be playing this one anymore.

Final Fantasy (NES): This was great in its day, but RPGs have come a long way since then. I keep it around for history's sake. I don't think I have any need to play this again.

I'm sure there are others. I know there are plenty that I haven't played in years, but I keep around for the memories.

For some reason Phantasy Star 3 came to mind. I remember when I first got the game I was pretty disappointed. It seemed like a step backward from part 2.

Some awesome games I had from demo discs for the PS1 back in the day.

I play all my games when I get them, but I'll probably never play those again (let alone beat them):

Pokemon Channel
Bought this because I wanted a silly Pokemon themed game, but I think the lacking interaction is what turned me off. You just watch TV in this game.

Ecco the Dolphin
Bought this for cheap on a flea market, but don't know if I'll ever get into this sort of gameplay.

Metroid
Enjoyed Super Metroid and want to play Prime someday, but the lack of a map or battery save system in the first entry somehow holds me back.

Street Gangs
Bought this with a paypal gift coupon, basically for free, but the ridiculously long passwords are a huge obstacle.

Turtles
An irate gamer video got me into this, of course he was cursing like hell about the game, but I thought it looked kind of interesting. Turns out, it doesn't.

Legend of Kartia
I'm attracted by the story that only reveals every aspect after beating the two campains and of course the amano artwork, but still have problems getting into the SRPG genre.

Resident Evil 2 & Resident Evil Outbreak
Seriously, I don't know why I bought them (well, RE2 is prohibited here, so it was tempting), in fact I only like survival games if they're designed like the earlier Silent Hill entries or Dino Crisis 1, where you don't have to spend 90% of the game on one's last legs.

Phantasy Star
I once bought Phantasy Star I-IV a long time ago, and since I had no master system at the time, only played II-IV. I sold them eventually, but kept PSI. I bought a master system only to be able to play this game, which since then, I didn't. And I've owned this game for a very long time now.

Pilotwings
Got this because it was cheap and seemed interesting, but I had a hard time trying to get into the controls. It's really not the game's fault, I just suck at it.

Sim City
Also a steal at ebay, but I'm actually not really into this sort of games.

Most of my impressions are from the first few hours, so I might get into these titles if I continue playing.

But since there are a lot of games in my collection that I liked from the first moment and I keep getting more new interesting titles, I'll probably never get to give those titles a second chance.

I've got some stinkers in my collection which I only dig out once in a blue moon to laugh about with friends. e.g. Scooby-Doo and Carmageddon 64. Can't see myself ever actually playing through them.

For shame kingdomheights777. You should get those games to someone who will appreciate them properly.
