Beating Atari 2600 games

Post by Nintendude94 »

I have a lot of 2600 games and I don't know what I consider the game beaten. Most games are arcade style. So, what do you guys classify a 2600 games as "Beaten". Sure ET is when you get the phone parts and call the ship.

You can see all of my 2600 games in my Backloggery (Sig).

Get a high score. If there's something else to do, such as Adventure's Easter Egg, find it.

I was definitely thinking Adventure. Beat it on all three difficulty levels and then find the easter egg and I would say that is it. One of the more complex games in the 2600 library and one of my favorites. Other than that, I would say it is all about beating your high score until you get bored.

You don't, ususually. Unless there's a specific end condition, like Adventure or Star Raiders. "Beating" the game is a relatively new concept, back in the day all that mattered was getting a high score.

If you really want a goal to shoot for (no pun intended), check out what it would take to get a patch from Activision and see if you can do it. Too bad you can't get a patch these days though.

I say don't bother
these games were made for a different era when games were not supposed to end.
I am not sure if there is a specific number of levels but the low number of lives/chances you get
and extremely difficulty , these games are clearly meant to pass time and not to finish them

Wow, I never knew Activision did that! That's awesome!!!

I'll just set a goal for myself, then that's what I'll count as beaten. I'm going to try to beat all of my games, that's why I wanted to know what you guys think.

I dont really give two shits about Twin Galaxies but you could try to beat some of the Atari VCS high scores there if you feel up to it.
