Best amiga platform games?

Post by ZeroAX »

I tried downloading an amiga emulator today, and from what I know there were a lot of great platform games exclusive to the home computers, that console fans never got to try out. Does anyone here have like a top 10 list of platform games I should try out?

Tried superfrog. It's the most plain game I've ever played. I've seen better flash games. Now trying Ruff n Tumble

Which Amiga emulator are you using? I was messing around with Amiga Forever, but I didn't like how it fully emulated the Amiga desktop. Cool, but I want something that'll just load the disk images nice and quick.

I'm using WinUAE which kind of does what you ask for, only when you haven't set up the emulator in the right way (mostly talking about rom problems) do you get a command line, every other time the game boots right away, well after it loads anyway :P

Yep I agree about Superfrog, we Amiga owners only love it because it in some basic way looked and felt like a SNES platform game.

TBH I really wouldn't come to the Amiga look for good platform games, that was never really where it strengh lay. If you come to the Amiga look for the more quirky games like Apidya, Speedball 2, Sensible Soccer, Spindizzy Worlds, Cannon Fodder, Chaos Engine, Alien Beed, Pinball Dreams/Fanasy/Illusions & Slam Tilt, Super Skidmarks etc

Naaa, I'd say the ST had less.
The power of the Amiga's game collection is very much in its variety - mainly because every Amiga owner had a keyboard, mouse & joystick - that meant we got great Arcade style games like Turrican II, Rainbow Islands, Pang etc to play with our joysticks but also the big hitting PC click and point games like Monkey Island and Beneath a Steel Sky. Just look at the top 100 below and you'll see 6 out of the top 10 are mouse controlled and the remaining 4 are super fast sports and shooters. That's what I love about the Amiga, the depth of its catalogue taken from the Arcade, consoles and PC plus its own exclusive titles like the works of Team 17 and Sensible Software.
