I moved to a new place a few months ago, and my new bedroom is actually SMALLER than my half of the room in my old place, which was shared between me and my brother.
And despite this, I'm STILL collecting.
I've even decided to make my next step to be the TurboGraFX and Game.Com (the latter has a LightsOut game AND a port of Resident Evil 2).
Will you ever have collected enough?

Nope. Never. And the reason why is that you aren't seeking a physical stash, but rather a continuing steam of new perspectives and experiences. Even when I own a game, I still find myself buying new versions of it simply to get a little more out of the experience.
And then there is the whole concept of getting rid of your physical collection and downloading it again so you have the ultimate versions without all the clutter and the convenience of playing them at the push of a button.
I once read an article about a man who built custom sound systems for cars. Super-high-end. The guy built a $40,000.00 sound system into a $40,000.00 car. And do you know what he did when it was finished, and by his standards, perfect? He sold it for $40,000.00 so he could start over again.
To quote the last line from one of my favorite anime (Millennium Actress), which is in turn a quote from something else I forget...."It was the chasing after you I fell in love with."
Peace Out

Yes it is thrilling hunting for stuff and finding rare stuff especially at great prices. ANd its fun to collect to. I have about 500 games thus far and have owned far more but am always selling and trading.
Re: Will you ever have collected enough?
I think I will still enjoy getting new games for quite some time to come.

I agree totally, its much easier to do it that way. I focused on Neo a for about 4 months, and finished it up. And now I have moved on to N64RyaNtheSlayA wrote:
That really seems the best way to do it. Take it one console at a time. Right now I'm completely focused on my Saturn, as their are so many games I have yet to get for it (Darius Gaiden, Duke Nukem 3D, WipeOut, Dragon Force, Astal etc.). Then I will probably move to Genesis then who knows after that.

i'm basically done. I trimmed down to about 200 games and i'm only buying a few games for wii and ps3. hoarding is not a good thing and i don't care to have a complete collection, most of which would be bad games.

That's the part I have to force myself to remember. Owning every game for a console invariably means you will own quite a number of very bad games--games I would never play. That's the point at which I have to make a decision not to add a game to my collection. I don't believe in owning games I will absolutely never play.V3rtigo wrote:i'm basically done.
