Idea for Community Project: Videos for Hidden Gems series?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Yeah I used to use "proxy" files in place of xvid encode source footage, back when my system couldn't seek them worth a shit. Had to do it the manual way though, using an avisynth referral file. It's a frame server. You can basically write a text file to act as the video file, with all the most intricate operations you need it to handle in realtime during the editing process. You can make the editor think it's handling video of completely different specs than it really is.

Ack and I talked about this for his fighting game articles some time back. I am not up on your modern video editors, but I do have an Avid and know my way around it (I did use one for four years). I have not used Premier or After Effects since the 90s though so I will leave fancy stuff to Mozgus. Im going to tinker around with it this week and see what comes out. I have already seperated out the NES and SNES games and have them on my netbook with recording software for lunch time.

I dont believe in the video review, unless it is well researched and rehearsed, so straight gameplay clips from me.

I'm not a flashy editor. I never use extravagant effects. My style has always been to let the clips do the work for me. My main skill is in selecting clips that sync with the audio in ways that people subconsciously like, but cant catch. I pretty much just stick to transitions, speed control, layering, and little else. There's been a few times where I've spent a good hour on a 1 second segment working with some photoshop elements, but its always in a way that the viewer doesn't notice, and assumes the footage hasn't been changed at all.

Still, I'm really interested in doing at least one of these, but I'm afraid it wont turn out to be to racket's preference and then all my work will be a waste.

So now Fusion has decided to never record video again. Only audio is recorded within the avi. Might be a Windows 7 thing. Off to a great start.

Because of the hidden gems section, I went out and bought Mr Bones for Saturn. What a weird friggan game that is, but it is fun. I don't know how to record TV, so will a camcorder do?
