I watched the Last Mimzy until Dwight showed up. Had to stop there. Like Werner Klemperer he is typecast in my mind.

I did watch Sky High yesterday. I will admit it was mostly because Bruce Campbell and Kurt Russell were in it. But it was a surprsingly fun little movie.

Watched the second half of Assassins with Sylvester Stallone. It was alright, but I had a serious Chekhov's Gun moment when Stallone mentioned "Nikolai" or however that's spelled.

What exactly is wrong with modern anime? (Make this a separate thread if you like.)
I've ranted on this at least twice on these forums. Its not worth the energy, especially when I've been seeing so many other people follow in my opinion lately.

I just watched Terry Gilliam's The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. It was bizarre, quirky, and I absolutely loved it, but what more could be expected from the guy who brought me Time Bandits and Brazil. You folks should check it out.

Everything listed has been seen at least once in the last six months, I bought my DVD's to be watched after all.
Looks like I assumed too much, then. But then again, we seem to have radically different perceptions. I just get bored with Rurouni Kenshin nowadays and wouldn't say it has any kind of fast-paced action whatsoever.
Oh, and I don't give a crap if the anime deviates slightly or completely from the manga as long as both are good in an equal but different way, just look at Fullmetal Alchemist for example.
Neither do I care, but only so long as the anime and manga are both good, which doesn't happen most of the time. Deviations just tend to be for the worse.

Now, since I mentioned YuYu Hakusho, I have to say that the anime is pretty faithful until the end, when it cuts the cool ending of the manga. If you have any patience, go over onemanga.com and check out the "true" ending of the story, it's really good.

And I hated Full Metal Alchemist. Never read the manga, though.

Ack wrote:But jfrost, if you want some suggestions about older stuff, I'd highly recommend the film Roujin Z. I'm gonna assume you've already seen Akira and Ghost in the Shell since they're classics.
Yes, I've seen them (actually, only one of the movies of GitS, don't really recall which one, and parts of the first anime series). I like Akira very much, but Ghost in the Shell bores me to tears. But I'll be sure to check out Roujin Z.
As for series, check out Iria: Zeiram the Animation and Record of Lodoss War. And not that Chronicles of the Heroic Knight crap, I'm talking about the original Record of Lodoss War anime.
Thanks. I've been meaning to watch Lodoss War for a long time, but always put something else first.

Too tired to look it up, I'll just wait for your next rant.
