I dont know. I'm really split. If I use one song for the whole thing, the games lose identity, but if I retain all the game audio, aurally, it can come across as chaotic and annoying. I've rarely seen a good game montage, and I don't think I have the patience to make one that meets those standards.racketboy wrote:I would like the later so people can get an idea of the music. Does that sound good?Mozgus wrote:And were you wanting a music video montage type deal, or strictly a series of clips with an old MTV-type lower left information panel for each game?
As for talking -- I don't want any. Unless you have a super-great radio voice, it's not a good idea. It can kill an otherwise good video. Small bit of text is ok and if they want to read more of a description of the game, they can read the article (which we can link to in the sidebar)
I don't know. This one is decent:

i think this is a good idea. moz, the audio part of a the montage won't be so bad if you adjust the levels of the audio, and possibly mess with the EQ just a little bit. i can work on that if anyone gets the audio/video stuff recorded and rips the audio and sends it to me. i'm not a movie-editing guy, but i know with imovie you can easily copy the audio and edit it with a different program and reinsert it.

I'm getting pretty good at editing -- I do some work for my wife.
Just gimme ideas on presentation and I can do my best -- although Moz probably knows more than me.

Not to gloat, but chances are I'm the most well versed in all multimedia and editing out of anyone here. If you strictly want just a series of clips with the audio retained, I can still do my best with a combination of crossfades and EQ tweak/filters to make it sound tolerable from start to finish. I just think it will be less memorable to most people.racketboy wrote:I'm getting pretty good at editing -- I do some work for my wife.

The real challenge is to see if I can even adjust to the new Adobe Premiere revisions (they're fucking garbage as far as I'm concerned), or if I can actually get the tried and true 6.0 to run in Windows 7. I stopped editing years ago due to the pitiful state of software editors.

Yeah, I figured you were better since you've been doing it for a while.Mozgus wrote:Not to gloat, but chances are I'm the most well versed in all multimedia and editing out of anyone here. We use Corel Video Studio X2 -- we like it because it works well with HD and it's under $100. Doesn't crash very often and the tools are decent. Just doesn't have much of a support community....

Hmm, I might give that a shot. It resembles the old Premieres a bit. But if all it can do is basic editing and the most minimalist effects, it won't be a keeper. At that point, there's always Windows Movie Maker. Speaking of, this beta of the Win7 version has actually been even further idiotproof'd, to the point where I can't use it to accomplish anything.racketboy wrote:Yeah, I figured you were better since you've been doing it for a while.Mozgus wrote:Not to gloat, but chances are I'm the most well versed in all multimedia and editing out of anyone here. We used Movie Maker on XP before -- not bad.
But Corel lets you do more with transitions, do multiple tracks, edit sound levels, stuff like that.
Plus it does proxy files for HD which lets you edit easier on lower-end machines.
