Steel Battalion.......What Can You Tell Me?

Post by xxstatic »

I have an opportunity to buy the game and controller for about 50$, never played it but seen the box in the gamestores with the 200$ price tag... :o back in the day.
Am I missing out on anything by not buying one or is this a lost treasure :?:

Buy it now for $50.00. Its a great game and that controller dominates any game room. I got mine brand new for $70.00 and it was a great investment. You can also play the Mechwarrior series on PC with the controller if you have the USB adaptor and drivers.

It is hard, gritty, and if you ever get into the groove of it, a hell of a lot of fun.

Hell yes buy it. I'd love to get my hands on one for that price.

If its the one that has the blue buttons its the better, more reliable version of the controller. The green button version has some small issues that the blue button version doesn't. Just to throw it out there.

While I played a lot of rhythm games with novelty controllers, I think it's my acquisition of the Steel Battalion controller that really catapulted my obsession over novelty controllers. It's simply one of the most immersive ways to play a video game, helped no doubt by the nitty, gritty nature and learning curve of the game. You simply can't duplicate the Steel Battalion experience elsewhere and $50 is a steal.

There's still an active community that plays Line of Contact too, which says something to the legacy of the game.

I picked it up boxed and all that for $50 several months ago. I haven't had the opportunity to test it out yet, but soon I'll dedicate at least a day to the game, getting a big table for the controller and setting it all up.

Well I got it for 46$. 8)

Now I'm going to have to get a place together to play it properly, my game room is just a dream at this point but looking to move to a new house in the next 3 months so hopefully I can get a space to call my own.

It is indeed the green button one, seems to be functioning well and I am very careful with my controls/systems so I hope it will stay that way. :)

The springs on the pedals are not as thick on the green version and needs to be replaced more often. Also, the solder for the buttons tend to break a little easier on the green version. Its no biggie, but I thought I'd bring it to your attention. Also this site http://www.steelbattalion.org/index.php is a great wealth of info about the game. And if you want to hook it up to a PC to play Mechwarrior this site http://vt.beckament.net/ is a easy guide to get set up. Good luck, its a great game.
